In every game, there are 2 kinds of NPC's: The helpful, important NPC's who will do no other than help you on your quest for adventure and shooting people.

And then there are the other NPC's...

Do you know any NPC's in a game I should avoid talking to or fighting against?

A description and a picture are welcome!

Get the Shivering Isles and instead of talking to Sheogorath just attack him, you'll love it, I promise. Your character will be happy.

If you get to Ascension Peak, make sure you have 140000 gold on hand to pay Amrit. He's relatively inoffensive, and you do not want to fight his assistant, Peewee.

Also, don't try to pickpocket Z'Ant or General Yamir. Just...don't.

In Xenogears (going back far I know) there is a character called Big Joe or something. He looks kind of like a clown. He pops up a few times in game always offering something for a ton of money. He just takes your money and runs everytime though. That punk...

Tales of Symphonia. Don't talk to the gnomes unless you have to, they are such assholes.

Although he's actually a pretty good henchman, Fallout's Ian has a reputation for unfortunate incidents of collateral damage. Often involving an automatic weapon and the back of your skull.

Arcanum's Virgil is also pretty good, but most players seem to view him as exemplifying that game's AI quirks, seeing as how he's the first one you get. Kind of like Ian, I guess, but not as dangerous to your health.

Also, pretty much any "random encounter" NPC (that you talk to, rather than fight) in a Dokapon game is going to earn your ire. You don't really have much say in avoiding them, though.

In the main land there some guy that says people are following him, just kill him on the spot because I think you get rewarded either way

I recommed checking there to those who are mid-semi high level and have trouble finding alchemy equipment for their level. I bought an expert alembic there.

I would say if at all possible, avoid all of the NPCs in Oblivion unless they are storyline-critical. Their unblinking gazes will send you spiralling into paranoia and depression.

Trust me.
That is probably just you.

I recommend avoiding that guy with brown outfit in the fable 2 tutorial and the adoring fan from oblivion. If you're play oblivion and you see a wood elf with yellow hair and a green outfit, run for the hills.

in warhammer online, avoid anyone with a bright gold question mark or exclamation point over their heads. no good can come from talking to these people. they will send you on inane jaunts to pick up their laundry, cook them creme brulee, and carry love letters to their significant others, when you should be concentrating on killing other pcs.
