I've probably played games for 5 1/2 hours on some days but every day really is extreme. No wonder I never meet any girl gamers, they're obviously more hardcore than I thought.

If there was something in the female gene stopping them from playing games, and some where then I would be interested. As it is I don't really care. It's good they're playing. I'm just dreading that small minority of girl gamers who will still go 'Yes, I know how shocking this is...a GIRL playing a game! but it's ok, i'm only a GIRL (please gift me attention and come onto me I don't get much attention anywhere else)

Yeah it's nice that there are increasing numbers of female gamers out there...but it seems silly that it's such a big deal. There have always been girl geeks in existence...we just previously were the sort you find at star trek conventions or in the fantasy section of a bookstore. Games to me are the ultimate creative experience - it hardly seems surprising that I not only enjoy playing them...but found work in the field.
Oh and guys, if you want a gamer girlfriend...take them seriously when you find them.
