Well with any luck they’ll be priced in such a way as to give nVidia a severe spanking.
If AMD follow the low-ish power consumption route they've been on AND try to keep $$$vperformance at least slightly in mind they might see some good returns. They might not win over the highest end but should stomp anything lower.

I'd hope so, because at this rate I'm expecting to see the RTX 7090 labeled "Minimum recommend PSU: Mr. Fusion 1.21 GW".

The sad thing is, even if I applied that rule retro actively, buying a 4090 still wouldn't have broken it XD

But yeah, unless these cards do amazing things or come with free lifetime supplies of hookers and blow, I'm not seeing the value add over the still kind of over priced 30 series.
TC says the 4080 will start around $900. Isn't that around the price points of the 3080? The TI is around $900 anyway, with the 3080 at around $750. If the 4080 is all that? I'm interested. Disclosure: I'm saving for 2/2024 for my next, at my age, likely last build. So far I think I'm on track to for this. My RX 480 8 Gig will have to last me for this!

MSRP has been a joke since 2020, and board partners always have to mark up their cards for their margins. Also the RTX 3080 done my way trends between $1200 and $1500. A few months ago they were in excess of $2000. So unless the 4080 is such an astronomical improvement to the point of making a 3080 look like a 2060, then it can stay right where it is on that shelf.

Agreed, if I had a 3080, I would not, at even normal prices, be interested in the 4080. They are writing it is a lot faster than the 3080 but won't a 3080 play state of the art games at 4K 60 FPS for the next several years? My RX 480 cannot. Not even close.

Yes, a 3080 should still be good for a while, partially cuz of dlss. Probably want to eshew the ray-tracing tho.

I was getting 1440p and about 70frames on Cyberpunk with all its settings set to ridiculous. Card was running hot though but that’s a case issue.

Can't judged, never played. Is that including RT? But yeah, figures, maxed out Cyberpunk is still very high end. I don't play that much AAA, but in my experience I've yet to run into a game I can't get a solid 4k60 in at max or near max settings but sans RT, including Control, Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, Metro Exodus, Spider-Man, Doom Eternal. If I drop down to 1440p I can squeeze in RT too, usually maxed too. Well, except Doom Eternal, that just lets me do whatever, cuz id Tech 7 is obnoxiously well put together.

Yes I turned Ray Tracing on. I also sprang for the 12GB card rather than the 10GB.

I know this is the Nvidia thread but Intel has decided to clap back on their debut run.

They're gonna list a card about 15% faster than a 3060 for 329 bucks American, with some Moore's law sass thrown in. Who knows what it actually sells at retail, but it's nice to see them coming in with the intent to directly compete rather than suck on the profit leavings.

I probably won't be an early adopter, but if the price sticks I might go for one later on after others have proved them out. At this stage my 1060 is surviving but I'm really looking for a decently priced boost and this could be it.

I'm all for more competition in the GPU space, but hopefully Intel did something about their atrocious drivers or this is gonna be a full dairy farm's worth of egg on their face.

Yeh, Intel should consider themselves really fortunate Nvidia's price hike has given them another golden opportunity to shake things up, but they need to come out swinging. The promise of better performance per dollar means nothing if the things don't work reliably.

Okay I know that’s probably the 4090 in all those shots but still. Jesus H. Christ guys, it’s like we need to go back to the full tower days - says a tragic who never left them - because that fucker is huge. In fact we may finally have something to eclipse original Xbox huge.

You want benchmarks for a card you're not gonna buy because it costs as much as an entire pc used to?

The RTX 4080 12GB is being "unlaunched"

The RTX 4080 12GB is a fantastic graphics card, but it’s not named right. Having two GPUs with the 4080 designation is confusing.

So, we’re pressing the “unlaunch” button on the 4080 12GB. The RTX 4080 16GB is amazing and on track to delight gamers everywhere on November 16th.

So we can probably expect the RTX 4080 12GB to return as the RTX 4070, but then I am curious as to how they end up pricing that. Surely they cant release a XX70 series card for the same £900 asking price, right?
