Just something I was thinking about while taking the 2 mile walk home, could the net be used to vote for everything?

For example, we wanted to decrease tax on one thing but increase it on something else the world votes on it and if it passes it is enforced.

Or if it's about something specific like should we more money into researching something that you need a certain qualification for only people with that qualification could vote on it 'cos they know what they are talking about.

Like with the whole SOPA thing, the people who wrote it don't know what the net is like, whereas it took the whole net to get enraged to make it go away for a bit. What I am suggesting is we all vote SOPA go away permanently or amend it so it's less like a sledge hammer and more like a scalpel. (of course you don't need a qualification for this SOPA thing but I couldn't think of good example that you need a doctorate or masters for)

What about voting on where the money goes or how banking works.
banking is built the wrong way round. Poor people have money taken off them while a rich person is given money interest. If I go into my overdraft the bank charge me £5 for it, if I go over my overdraft they charge me £20 ... I don't have enough money so they take money off me? what! While rich people are given money for having money, "well done sir! You have loads of money, have this guys £25, he didn't have enough money so we took his and now you can have it!"

Not to mention those fucking bankers, "you ruined the economy of the entire country? So you only get a million pound bonus this month!" WHAT!

I think this system could get rid of stupid ass/selfish politicians and actually be a democracy, maybe it would stop wars and such by unifying people.

You wouldn't have parties making claims to change things only to get into power and not live up to any of them. Like Chris Rock says, .

You don't have to think "well I will vote for ... 'cos they have the least things I am not really sure of", like you might agree with 9 of the 10 things they claim they are going to change but that 10th one is something you really don't like ... this way you can vote for the 9 things you like but vote against the thing you don't like.

Just an idea, thoughts?

Where's the nWo?

And really, no, it won't work. The internet is far too unsecured a place for that kind of thing. Not to mention the number of people (4chan, Something Awful, et cetera) who could and would vote for things that would absolutely frak things up "for the lulz". No, we do not want this.

While I agree with Aris ('cept for Something Awful, they're mean but they're sane) it wouldn't work but It is an interesting notion to think about. A truly democratic society, we wouldn't have a president or senate, every person would have an absolute and equal vote in every single thing, or as you said we could repeal the right to vote and everyone who is the best in their field votes on things pertaining to their field. While it's an interesting idea there is way to much room for error in a flash cultural shift like this.

Also the bank thing made me think of this:
Sorry about the crappy audio but it's understandable and that's what counts.

Well, Hulk Hogan and Eric Bishoff are still around in Florida and Kevin Nash just ended his latest run in WWE. I'm not sure about any of the others right now.

As for the OP, the unfortunate state of politics right now is based a lot on money from lobbyists for special interest groups. I'm not sure how easy it'll be to get rid of those at this point.

Oh and what about NWO? I saw it and thought "New World Order conspiracy theorist?" But now that doesn't seem quite right.
I put NWO 'cos it would be, it would be a new world order. People having a true democracy, not just a group of people (meant to be) working towards an ideology like being liberal or conservative.

It would be voting up every bill you like and down all the ones you don't.

There would be no more dictators or people in it for themselves, no more "yeah, we will do X, Y and Z" but instead doing A, B and C.
