Just a little quip with the article. It's Vodafone not Vodaphone

Dotcom to me seems like a pretty stand up guy, he has to deal with all this legal crap, having gotten beaten to the ground during the raid on his house while peacefully submitting. He loses his website, gets detained, has his accounts frozen, and yet because of how shoddily both the US and NZ government handled this (which involved breaking a few laws on their part)and how sensibly dotcom handled the legal stuff he's become a celebrity of sorts. Appearing at expos and in my ISPs advertising campaign.

Anonymous and other hacktivist groups are always looking for a good cause.
I bet it wouldn't take them long to figure out what is going.

It seems to be a massive double standard...

From you people. The forumers.

See, on the one hand, you demand Justice and Freedom, in particular that a man is Innocent until proven guilty.

One bloke suggests he's being spied on by the US government and everyone immediately assumes it must be the case. No proof, no evidence, in your minds you've already convicted the US Government of spying without a shred of ACTUAL evidence.

I'm personally not going to say one way or the other (Fuck it, of course I am: Yeah they probably are spying on him), however I find it fascinating how many people abandon the simple idea of 'innocent until proven guilty' as soon as it applies to someone (or something) they don't like.
i think people would be satisfied if the us government was actually held accountable for the bullshit that already happened, instead of them continuing to hold onto the rest of kim dotcom's property despite the fact that they obtained it illegally, simply because nobody is capable of actually taking it back from them, much less be able to freeze their assets associated with violating these laws for countless years

just because they haven't gone to trial yet means that they can keep deliberately taunting the law by acting as if they're above it, and sure, we can pretend that the law applies to them too, but since nobody's actually going to enforce it, i feel we have gone past the point where they should be protected by a law that they aren't going to observe in the slightest

what is the protocol for dealing with people who do not face punishment for their actions? should they still benefit from the law? does it mean anything at that point?

I would agree however the US has been caught spying on many of us non Americans (which sadly no country is willing to stand up against) and they have also been caught committing multiple illegal actions to try and kidnap (it's not deportation when it's via illegal methods) a New Zealand citizen for hanging in the US. Put the 2 together and you have a fair reason to assume that yes they are doing this as they have been caught doing it in the past and will continue to do so.

You know it is bad when Jon Stewart can name an entire bit "That thing they said they are not doing? They are totally doing it." and have new content every day practically.
