RTS' have less gore and swear words.Daemascus said:How is it that first person shooters are usually are rated as more violent than real time strategy games where you can pit whole armys against each other when FPS's its usually one kill at a time?
Mr. Grey said:FPS - You live the dream! You see that man's head explode.
RTS - You merely see a speck explode from the sky as you play God.
That's my reasoning behind it anyways. It should be noted that I love both genres.
Geez, both of you guys are spot on. I really have nothing new to add to the topic. Well, except that there should be more games that blur the line between shooter and strategy. Like Ring of Red.crimson5pheonix said:RTS' have less gore and swear words.Daemascus said:How is it that first person shooters are usually are rated as more violent than real time strategy games where you can pit whole armys against each other when FPS's its usually one kill at a time?
Something that really needs to be corrected.crimson5pheonix said:RTS' have less gore and swear words.Daemascus said:How is it that first person shooters are usually are rated as more violent than real time strategy games where you can pit whole armys against each other when FPS's its usually one kill at a time?
Yeah, pretty much. Most RTSs, when a unit dies, it just falls over neatly and disappears a short time later. Compare this to Gears of War in which, at one point, your characters almost literally drown in blood.Daemascus said:So what your all saying is killing is ok it just the swearing and gore people object to?
Popular moral standards say so, at least. It is somehow less objectionable to blow up the sun than to shoot a single guy in the face. Apparently, the Stalin's way of thinking - "one death is a tragedy, a million is a statistic" - is very popular.Daemascus said:So what your all saying is killing is ok it just the swearing and gore people object to?
Yeah but thats aliens and space humans they dont countPrimoThePro said:nah, you guys, with starcraft 2, you see all kinds o' blood and gore. not many fps' allow you to disintegrate an enemy.

Oh, shoot, didn't mean to invalidate your point. I was just trying to point out an amusing FPS where you can disintegrate enemies (seriously, flamewall gun? Pretty fun to use). Maybe I should have put an emoticon at the end of that.PrimoThePro said:oh. that makes... my point invalid. no, its cool. your point is just more valid, and you know what? that's terrific.NeutralDrow said:Oh, shoot, didn't mean to invalidate your point. Any way I can make it valid again?
Preferred the firebomb, myself. Classic is cool, but there's no kill like overkill.PrimoThePro said:no, its cool. your point is just more valid, and you know what? that's terrific.NeutralDrow said:Oh, shoot, didn't mean to invalidate your point.
