Given that this is a site made almost entirely from athiest's, liberal's, and Democrats.

I have to ask, aren't any of you the slightest bit disappointed in Obama?

While I look through the forums on this site, I see post after post after post saying how great and wonderful Obama is. It reminds me of the election day South Park episode where the two sides are divided, and both think that either McCain or Obama is the be-all-end-all of America. The moral of the episode was that they are both flawed men, and neither of them will become America's saviour or destoyer.

And YET, on the news and in the posts at the escapist, people wet their pants in excitement when the man speaks.

I am not saying you have to go bashing on the guy, don't go saying he's horrible or anything like that. But, can no one even admit that the man might occasionally be wrong, that not every idea he has is solid gold? It seems to me that the glorification of one government leader has always led to trouble, so why do people walk around with stars in their eyes, hanging on every word and action ( literally, you can find out his menu, workout regime, and type of cigarettes) instead of analyzing everything he wants to change in government. Not that there aren't people who try to take an objective look at his plans, but EVERY SINGLE one of them is labeled a hater, racist, religious fanatic, or idiot. Even members of his own party, liberals, athiests, all of them are immediatly disregarded as crazy the minute they object to something Obama has done.

So tell me, why is President Obama a God?

EDIT: No where in the post, not ONCE did I suggest that he was a failure. I didn't suggest kicking him out of office or replacing him with a republican. I merely suggested that he wasn't perfect and wanted to know why so many think he is, and yet in the first page of this thread, I am already being labeled as a hater, and republican. Thank you, those of you who drove my point home so quickly.

Because he's the first black president a lot of people will support just so they aren't called racist, which among liberal circles is a pretty bad thing to be called. I don't think he's fantastic but then again I wouldn't want to be in his situation.

People probably still have insanely high expectations for him to get us out of the mess that Bush's administration started. So I'd say denial. We don't want to know that he's doing stuff wrong if he is because that would start a downward spiral in his popularity if people get the mindset that he can't do anything right. Then the only thing you'll have to listen to is people complaining, even if he does do something right.

He's not. No matter who the president is, people will ALWAYS have a problem with them. just wait..... I think Obama is okay, but i dont think he's going to ride in on a white horse to set up the kingdom of heaven in America. Sit down, shut up, and deal with it people. Unless he takes away our guns. inw hich case we should all stand up and launch a guerilla war on our own government. THEY WONT TAKE OUR GUNS....

This site has its fair share of Obama haters as well. There are plenty of threads out there dedicated to people thinking he's a Communist or a Socialist and whatnot.

As for me, I believe that he's not doing that great and certainly not living up to his campaign, but he's not screwing up as badly as the previous administration. That's good news to me.

Honestly, I could take him or leave him.
As corrupt as the government is these days, I'm used to it.
Socialism?
Why not!
Hell, Communism wouldn't even surprise me at this point.
Nothings going to change any time soon, no matter who's in charge.

Yah, I dunno if I've seen very many "Isn't Obama a darling?" threads on this site. They're certainly not very popular if there are some.

Look, it's not that people don't have a problem with him, it's that it's hard to agree with critics if the critics are also agreeing with the people bringing guns to protests and talking about "death panels" like that's a serious proposal and that Obama invented it. When fanatics start attacking, it's hard not to get fanatical right back.

Seriously, everybody is so quick to judge him now. The man's been president for nine months. Less than a year and everyone wants to call him a failure. And not everyone who criticizes him is labeled racist or idiot or whatever. I have no problem with criticizing him when it's fair, but let's not rush to judge him. He's still got several years left. If you'd have judged Bush by his first nine months before 9/11, everything would've been different. A lot can happen in one term.

I don't know what site you're browsing, while there are plenty of posts supporting him, there are plenty of posts hating him as well, and most of the ones supporting him don't come even close to calling him a god, they usually either say "give him time" or "he's ok".

No reasonable person would place unquestionable faith in a politician. Unless you literally couldn't question him/her.

I'm mostly frustrated by his need to please everybody. He's being brickwalled every step of the way by partisanship, and then he has to try sell his plan (health care, reform, mostly) to people who are determined to object to him every chance I get. The far Right hates him, the moderate Right won't suck it in and calm the others down, the far left thinks he's too right-wing, and it all comes down on the Congress's shoulders.

For as long as I've been aware of the political situation in America, I've been dissatisfied with the two-part system and have yet to see someone really stand up to the pundits, lobbies, political correctness, and idiotic public opinion. Anyone who wishes to lead the country and manage it in a responsible, pragmatic, and practical manner may just as well give it up, given how much pandering and bickering there is. It's was the same with every president since, well, maybe Eisenhower. It was the case for Clinton, it was the case for Bush, and it is the case for Obama. It will always be like that.

Yes, I am a little.
One, I am hoping he does more for gay marriage rights, although I had no delusion that he would end the War on Drugs, as legalization of drugs is currently handled by states more than anything, and too many people get rich off of such a travesty.
I am glad that Iraq has a deadline, but it was set by Bush.
His stimulus is helping, and the US is recovering.
And I am glad that last night he grew some balls and said "Fuck you! We're keeping the public option!" while still managing to allow tort reform. Single payer is the way to go, but I expect centrist politics from the Democrats, not liberal politics.
I wish he had had more balls with releasing the Guantanamo inmates, but that is slowly making progression too.
I'm not sure where he stands on warrantless wiretapping but I doubt he's done much about it, which makes me angry.
I'd also like to see some immigration reform, I.E. you get caught hiring illegals guy in charge spends a decade in jail if he knew, lower downs who knew get the death penalty, and your business is absolved and assets seized by the government.

And he's not a God.The only people that say he's a "God" are conservative loons projecting about how they treated Bush.

I am not saying he's a failure, I just want some clarification on his humanity. You say that it's better to judge a man after he's had time to act, I couldn't agree more. But, several News stations, reported that the first six months is an indicator of the rest of the term.

You say "Let's not rush to judge him." fair enough, but doesn't that include turning him into some sort of perfect God-type politician?

how about this, he's better than usual. And to all of you who say obama is socialist or whatever, check out prez roosevelt and his new deal. The supreme court ruled that aspects of the new deal were unconstitutional. However this dude in flaming balls of glory said, NO U and threatened to pact the Supreme court by adding new justices (as there is no legal precedent as to how many a president can appoint) Thereby diluting the power of the judicial system. So they were like oh noez and passed the "new deal". People should take a lesson from history and from their childhood.
"things that taste bad are generally good for you"

i like obama's policy i wouldn't mind socialism, i do mind communism though. He just needs to man up and screw partisanship.

He's trying. So far he hasn't had as many catastrophic screw ups as Bush, and at least there are things he's done I can point to and say... he's trying. All we can do is give him time, and let him do his job. What are you suggesting? A bloody coup to reclaim washington on behalf of the republicans? Let the man do his job! Criticize him once he's failed, don't say he's a failure before he's even done trying!

I don't see how the title has anything to do with your point, but I digress

No, I don't feel let down. He's trying his best. He's doing moderately well

Then again if he fucks up I will be on him like a unfixed chiwawa(Or however you spell it).

Nope I'm not disappointed one bit and I doubt I ever will be. You know why? because he didn't declare war on terrorism.

You cannot win a War on Terrorism. It?s like having a war on jealousy.

This is an excellent example of an " OBAMA IS A GOD" post.

Evidently, the mere fact that Obama is not Bush, makes him perfect.

Can't say I'm dissapointed, mostly because I expected this. There was no way he could keep all of the promises he made during the election. One thing I am dissapointed about is how he's focusing on health care rather than the economy. Which do you do first? Defuse the time bomb in your room, or pick up your clothing littering the floor? (Go metaphores)

I'll say that I'm a bit...disappointed at some of the courses of action he's taken in the last 9 months. But on the other hand, it's only been nine freaking months he'll do fine in the long run, but I'm impatient so I'm a little jaded on his whole presidency.
