Objective: Survive

Hello Escapist.

I love games, as I know many of us here do. But there is always one piece of any game that I seem to enjoy the most, survival.

I would rather take Firefight over team slayer in reach.
Forget capture the flag, I want more Nazi Zombies.
Forget Gears 2 campign, I want horde mode.

So escapist, whats your favorite survival mode? It can be from any game, regardless of genere from RTS to table top RPG, which do you love the best?

Personally I love Nazi Zombies. The 1st time I heard that demonic laugh from Doctor Maxist, I knew I was hooked. Its been 2 years and I am still playing that game, love it to undeath.

Don't have one yet... I have yet to find THAT ONE, that I just want to play over and over again, I hope Black Ops zombie mode is that one.

dead rising 2 is the closeist to my dream zombie survival sim game but saddly it barely comes close

l4d is the coolest one ive ever played, but dead rising 2 is proly more like what it theoretically would be. ofcourse, withought all your weapons breaking the second you swing them >=(

While i can't decide between Horde mode, and Firefight, i would like to comment on...

Mad Moxxi Underdome Riot. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

I have never played anything that hard. In my life. Ever. I take that back, "hard" isn't the word. "taxing" is more accurate. The 20 round gauntlet took me and my 2 friends 8 hours. We found safe zones in each level and survived purely on my regenerative ammo weapons. Swapping them out to each other whenever we were low. Even with our totally OP ability setups, GOD it took sooooooo looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong.

It makes me cry myself to sleep at night.

I have so much fun in Timesplitters Future Perfect virus mode. Especially on one of my custom maps with a bunch of portals.

It's kinda like why I prefer Killing Floor to Left 4 Dead sometimes. I also like the much wider variety of weapons of which to survive and kill zombies, and the far greater variety of enemies. Only problem is that it can really only be done multiplayer (like Left 4 Dead), and a lot of morons will start firing on an enemy I'm trying to one-shot with the crossbow, which leads them to going into a beserk mode and then shredding me to pieces.

"Hey, that guy over there has a crossbow and is a level 4 sharpshooter, and he's facing that Scrake. I KNOW, I'LL HELP WITH 6 GRENADES!!!" Argh!!!

Nazi Zombies. I love it so. Just the craziness that can ensue when you reach level 20-something and some jackass on your team decides to run off of the catwalk on Der Riese or when the whole team is down on Shi no Numa and the last man standing is running around the boardwalks leading to the Comm Room. Nothing gets your blood pumping and adrenaline spiking quite like facing down a horde of never ending zombies. XD

Shit, that looks freaking awesome. It has an atmosphere to it and its only a video with no words, god I hope thats Black ops zombies.

Nazi Zombies was so great.
Also zombie fortress is a great game mode, along with prop hunt.

well nazi zombies was pretty fun but i found it a bit of a strange difficulty curve the first few levels were really boring but then it gets really hard really fast unless you camped. that didn't stop me and my friends from playing it for like 8 hours. pre-order black ops just to get all the ones from world at war

It's worth a try, I'd give you a trial but I don't think I have any left.

I don't really like survival type gameplay, since I like to achieve a goal in a game, not to see how long I can play it.

Campaign is survival mode. You must survive to reach the conclusion of the story.

As a person who prizes story, nothing is duller than pure survival mode.

I guess the best for me is L4D, it's not out and out survival mode but it's pretty similar.
