Firstly, I'll say that I played New Vegas the first time and didn't have a single problem working with Mr. House. Kinda irked me that I was supposed to think he was a bad guy.

Anyway, I also just finished reading the entire Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind, and was wondering if there were any other examples of books, tv shows, movies, video games, or any other kind of fictitious storytelling that comes from a writer or director with an Objectivist point of view. I have read every Ayn Rand novel also.

I realize this topic is trollbait, but please try to keep it civil. I just want something to read on the metro.

There might be a way to get an objectivist point of view. Watch 30 minutes of foxnews (fixednews) and then 30 minutes of MSNBC (mslsd) and combine the two in your mind. I suggest that because un-opinionated and unbiased media is hard to come by so you just have to grab from many different sources and many different view points to get a balanced perspective.

Thanks, but I was thinking more of "Objectivist" in terms of being the polar opposite philosophy of "Marxism" or "Collectivism" although what you suggest is probably a good way to find "objective" - information.

so how is sword of truth objectivistic?
Terry Goodkind is a pretty outspoken Objectivist, and although he eases into it throughout the books, by the time he gets to Faith of the Fallen, he's in full-on medieval Anthem mode. I'm just trying to find out if there is anything else even close to that kind of stuff out there. Even it it's just something like Bioshock.

I loved Sword of Truth, but I haven't really found anything quite as philosophical with the objectivist point of view. Not that I've looked, I liked the story, the philosophy was just a bonus for me, but I haven't stumbled upon anything else

I never saw House as a bad guy. Every time I've played it, I've wound up with a House-run independent Vegas. Partly because he reminds me of Robert Downey Junior, but also because I believe House had the philosophy Vegas needed. And Raul seemed to have a pretty high opinion of him too.

Ooh I suppose I would be in a world of trouble if I said I only watched the TV series?

Nah, just be sure to pick up "Wizards' First Rule" when you get a chance, and forget about the TV characters.

You're not in trouble, but it explains everything. The series doesn't even resemble the books. More so than usual. It made the Eragon movie look like the best movie adaptation of a book that could ever be done. Literally the only thing that the tv series and the book series have in common are the names of people and places and things. That's it. Even the general overview of the plot is completely different.

Also, the books are amazing, the tv series is not. If you like fantasy, I strongly suggest you give it a read.

F**k it. I'm going to write one. As a capitalist, i see this is an under-exploited market and I intent to exploit it.
