I have never really liked rpgs as a hole. However last year i decided to try fallout 3 and somehow spent over 20 hours just exploring and had a blast doing it. This was the first rpg for me to ever go more then 2 or 3 hours and quitting. I then picked up mass effect on steam when it came on sale thinking it looked fun and i might enjoy it. I have played about an hour and i dont see myself playing more then 1 or 2 more. I was thinking of picking up oblivion and trying it out, but the fact still remains i get bored very easily with most rpgs my thought is though that it will be similar enough to fallout that i might enjoy it. How similar are the two? Should i take the plunge?

Actually my story is yours but the other way round. I wasn't fond of RPGs to begin, but then I played Oblivion and loved it. Then came Fallout 3. Loved that too.

They do seem simular, but in all fairness the only simularity is that they are both RPGs, first person, have the same melee combat and MASSIVEly epic worlds. You'll like Fallout 3 if you liked Oblivion.

The combat system takes some getting used to, but if you love roaming and such, I would grab it.

I personally loved completing both the Thief and Assasin story lines, they were so much fun!

And the same developer and the same game engine and all that.

Oblivion isn't something your going to play for immersion. It's an enjoyable game non the less but it won't compare with Fallout 3 and other such games. I'd get it anyway for all the mods.

oblivion would be the best way to do nothing you ever had.... and i mean that.
i started the game right after the tutorial quest i wandered off and 60 hours later remembered that there's a story line in this game....

if your thinking of the PC version then mod the level up system because its damn suckish.
