For the longest time I played oblivion on the xbox and really loved it, however the longer I played the more the little things that halted immersion got to me. So a few days ago I bought a really fast, new pc (i was previously a mac owner). I had read about a bunch of mods that I want to install on this website (http://amito.freehostia.com/Oblivion/OB-mod-order.htm) it includes a load order page so I thought that doing this modding thing should be easy. WRONG. I have spent hours upon hours trying to get these mods to work. I absolutely cannot get it to work right because there is always some problem and I barely know what I'm doing on a pc anyway, let a lone modding a game. I desperately want to get these mods to work but it seems impossible! is there a trick to this im missing? I can't get Better Cities to work and I'm not sure wtf to do about wrye bash, obse, obge and most other mods. at this point I would pay someone to just make all the mods in one huge package that contains loadorder so all i need to do is download it and activate. What can I do to make this work?

Also I know this isnt a question site but i am desperate and i want to post this wherever i can, sorry for any inconvenience

Some mods change things other mods need. So using multiple mods is not the best idea unless you know they will not interact (example: one mods a new town in the game, another gives you additional weapons). And you have to put the mods in some folder for Oblivion (I forgot which one...) and then activate them in the Oblivion launcher. If you are doing a bunch of mods, do them one at a time and make sure the game works after each one.

I just gave up. I swear I did everything that the readme said, and asked for help on a mod support forum, and I still can't even get the script extender to work.

What exactly is happening, or not happening. Is the game starting up without the mods? is it Freezing? Crashing?

Well, I can't rightfully say I know anything about that site you're using. I personally use tesnexus. It can get hairy at times, but frankly, if you properly read the readmes of everything you get, it shouldn't be an issue.

Alternatively, might be a good idea to start with something smaller like a simple mod to add armour or weapons. Once you get the hang of where everything goes, you can go to bigger mods like Better Cities and using utilities like the mod manager and obse.

Oh, and about Wrye Bash, someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's just a more complicated (but advanced) Oblivion Mod Manager.

If it's an installation problem, make sure that everything in the mod's .zip file is put into the data folder.

This means that if the mod has a folder called Meshes, you make sure that everything in the Meshes folder is copied into the Data/Meshes folder in your install path.

Once you install everything correctly, you can try different combinations (one at a time first) to see what works and what doesn't.

Sorry for the late reply, if you are still having problems then i'll say this... The yellow and green botchy things are usually "missing model" or "missing texture" problems. If the game doesn't have a thing to render, it applies a default shape to it, which is usually a giant colored square with another colored exclamation point. If the actual texture is messed up then it'll be weirdly colored, purple and such.

As previously stated, crashing is usually due to incompatibility between the mods. I recommend FOMM if you don't already have it.

It will help you manage your mods.

Make sure you have a legit copy of Oblivion...all of the Torrent releases suffer from crashes and mod issues.

Just a quick question.

You are starting the game with Oblivion Script Extender right? obse_loader.exe
I've never used Wrye Bash myself, just obse and oblivion mod manager. Put the mods datafiles in the right folder, adjust the load order (Deadly Reflex gets really cranky unless put in an exact way in the load order) in mod manager and done.
