So I bought Oblivion for PC (finally) as its currently the deal of the day on Steam. My big question now is, where/what mods should I get for this awesome game?

I'd advise getting one of the ones that fixes the leveling system. Also, Nehrim is supposed to be very good.

Well, that depends on what you want. Do you want to change up the look of your character? The look of NPCs? Do you want to add areas and quests? Do you want to change the lava? Do you want to ride a dragon? Do you want a more traditional exp. system? Do you want a different battle system altogether?

http://www.tesnexus.com/ is the first thing that came up on google for Oblivion mods.

Also: that sucks. I totally would have that $5 give-away on these forums if the game had gone on sale two days earlier. Stupid Gabe, always toying with our needs and emotions.

I can't remember the specific mod name but there's one for massively shrinking the menu font, which is great considering the default is size 32 where you can only see four items at any given time. I may be exaggerating, but it's really useful.

Get the unofficial Oblivion Patch. Then get Oscuros Oblivion Overhaul.

Sure you'll be spending a few hours trying to get it all to work, but damn is it a better game after those mods.

Now where? The FIRST website that google pulls up when you search "Oblivion Mods" [http://www.tesnexus.com/].

If I remember right, there are a few different unofficial patches, at least if you have the GOTY version with the expansions, which all fix different sets of bugs. They're kind of a big deal and the absolute first thing you should get, though. The Darnified UI one that makes the interface/menus only bad instead of terrible is a good one too.

After that, it really depends what you're looking for, and many of the more interesting/complex ones need to be installed in specific orders and/or conflict with each other, so it takes a little research before you start using them. There are a whole bunch of them that make the game a lot prettier if your computer can handle it, including better textures and overhauled (and open) cities and more active and realistic wildlife, and in terms of gameplay, FCOM is a supreme ***** to install but turns it into almost an entirely different (and much better/deeper) game as far as combat and stuff is concerned by combining all the other popular combat mods into one giant one.

Yes get DarNifed UI. Get it now, don't play the game until it is installed.

This mod alone makes the game so, so much better.

It better be installed by now.

http://www.tesnexus.com/index.php and http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Oblivion are the 2 main places for oblivion information.

Heres a list of mods I use that doesnt change Vannila too much. Midas, Cobl, and CM changes the most. But I suggest using them because it makes the game allot better.

Actually I've played quite a few thanks, and Oblivion was one of them since that is what this thread is about. I stick by what I said. He should play the game, even if just for a bit, to see what he likes and what he doesn't like than he can mod it as he pleases. Also he's playing it on PC. I haven't run into any glitches that were game breaking in either Skyrim or Oblivion that couldn't be fixed with a simple PC console code.
