Does raising your skills above 100 actually have an effect?

My various enchanted armour etc has my blunt at 130 and my agility at 140 but I'm wondering am I wasting space when I could be using different items?

Having to work from memory here so bear with me and I may be wrong lol (if so I'm sure someone will correct me).

Having blunt over 100 should increase your damage by a percentage of what you get at 100 plus increase your chances to crit hit with said weapon. So as an example if your mace did 10 points of damage at 100 skill at 130 it should do 13. It should also help with your power moves (sidestep dissarm etc) and increase the likelyhood of these effects taking place.

The agility wont have such a direct effect if I remember and will just reduce the chance of you getting knocked over (it may also have an influence over your agi based skills but I'm not sure there)

Hope that helps

Thanks for that!

Actually if having a higher agility will mean less getting knocked back then I'm in.

That for me is the most frustrating thing in the game, when you're taking on 4 enemies and you get staggered at which point they all lay into you together...

Yes it does, I remember hacking out one of my characters and giving him something like 800 Acrobatics and Athletics and my guy could haul ass and jump to the Imperial City from the wizard tower.

Christ, can you survive that? It sounds lethal as hell.

As for the OP: I don't remember exactly, though I think that one of the previous posters had it right: some skills do work better above 100. Others, there's no point really: lokpick, for example.

If you jump over the walls of a city, it flips out. That is to say, there's a stripped down version of each city existing in the main world and a zone for each that exists separately. Then there's the paintbrush paradox, by which paintbrushes are weightless and can be used to build ladders.

But yeah, 100 is by no means a limit.

Just a question of an unrelated topic, What the hell is going on with all the threads about Oblivion?

My guess is that it's a circular reaction... people reading about it feelinspired to go back and play it again then feel inspired to post threads about it.

That's what happened me anyway!

Damn I presumed they were allways here but as the DDO threads have now dwindled down they were more noticable lol.

Can't help but wonder if Pete Hines and Todd Howard at Bethesda noticed (they do seem to be aware of the Escapist's presence) all the interest in their games and that's why we're getting some sort of new Oblivion content (more DLC or who knows what-all else) for a game that's three years old. I'm thinking Bethesda (who never met a dollar they didn't want to grab) thought "holy crap, people are still playing Oblivion, let's sell them something!"

I try not to let my cynicism as a gamer get the better of me but between horse armor and Operation: Anchorage, it's hard not to think of them as pretty blatant cash grab enthusiasts.

I partially agree. Horse armor was just stupid, but I have to commend them for making base games with hundreds of hours of gameplay and kilometers of area to explore!

To be frank, most of their DLC is bad, but they eventually package it up (on PC that is) into "expansions". For instance, nights of the nine with a crap load of other things was put on a disc and sold at retail, it was really cheap and had all their DLC they made up to that point (i think). Also, the Shivering Ilse was an amazing expansion for it's price.

My point is I feel their boxed expansions are often more than worth their cheap price, but their DLC seems just like a cash grab.
