They could be the star of their own one-off game or a side character in a popular franchise. Basically anyone who we haven't heard from in a decade or more. Personally, I have always been fond of Geno, the star-possessed doll wizard from Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.

His only appearance (outside of allusions and nods) is in Mario RPG, and just about everyone who ever played the game adored the character. He was such a cult hit that he was even rumored to be in SSB Brawl but was cut due to a copyright dispute with Square Enix.

And really, what's not to love about the guy? He's charming, prone to slap-stick shenanigans (like the rest of the cast), honorable and the only character in the cast who isn't a total dick to Bowser. He's also OP as shit, both in the lore and in-game. He can one-shot Smithy's most powerful servant for Christ's sake:

Mario's RPGs have strayed far from the old 90's Final Fantasy-style, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't look back to their roots for inspiration. Hell, Paper Mario is chalk full of references to the game in story, tone and mechanics. Even if they completely ignored his original iteration and effectively rebooted the character I am sure his fans would be hyped as fuck.

There are tons of other characters out there who deserve the same treatment, so go ahead and lay 'em on me!

Glitch from Metal Arms: Glitch in the System. It has been a looooong time since I played the game, but all I can remember is that he was awesome. He desperately needs a revival.

The "Absolute Victory Unlosing Ranger" from Z.H.P: Unlosing Ranger vs Darkdeath-evilman. Unlosing Ranger was a really awesome zero to hero arc and deserves another shot after ascending to sheer nuke punching badassary! Really we need another Z.H.P as the spiritual successor Guided fate paradox was good but did not really match Z.H.P at all.

Off the top of my head, I would say Wynne from Dragon Age. I think she's such an underrated character and I often times ended up using her in my party more than Morrigan (who I love, but I always hated having her disapprove of my Warden doing nice things).

I really wanted to know more about the spirit that possessed her in the Circle that may or may not have been draining her life. She's one of the characters that hasn't been mentioned at all in the other games that I legitimately want to know what happened/happens to her. Really all we know is that she was going to maybe try and learn more about the spirit and that she was going to try to help Shale find a way to reverse the golem process (which I also wish they would do a DLC or something because I really want to see that play out).

Maybe she's not really obscure, but definitely super underrated in the DA universe.

Does Mega Man Volnutt from Mega Man Legends count?

The Legends series is set in an alternative reality or something, so Volnutt is only named after the original Mega Man (and happens to look like him.) The relatively recent project to finally conclude the PS1-era trilogy - which ended on a REALLY annoying cliffhanger - was canned thanks to a last-minute dick move from Capcom, meaning it HAS been 15 years without an actual game.

(Yeah. The first two games are long out of print anyway, so maybe it was just as well.)

However: A revival of the series, keeping the cartoony graphics but using modern technology, would most likely allow the two existing games (and possibly the spinoff The Misadventures of Tron Bonne) to fit on the same disc/cartridge as the 'revival' (third) installment!

Guess we'll just have to wait until Capcom aren't a bunch of dicks anymore.

I would love to see more of Regina from Dino Crisis. She's a redhead super-spy on an island research facility, that through a temporal accident has become overrun with predators from the distant past. She rappels to maintenance shafts, uses the facilities' security systems to her advantage, and has an arsenal of weapons and tools to help her stay alive.

Damn it, Capcom!

It wasn't draining her life, it was the only thing keeping her alive. She was technically killed in the Circle Tower before the Warden gets there.

And um... if you read Asunder... she dies. ):

Raziel from the soul reaver games might be nice to see around in a reboot or something. Though given how reboots tend to go, maybe not.

Dark Cloud would be good to see too, though more of a game series then a specific character sadly.

Lol, nice to see someone else even played Gitch. That was a fun game, easily some of the best 3 dollars I spent, thanks you very much gamestop closing sales.

Gex, from the series of the same name. His whole thing was riffing on movie types, I'd love to see how he tackles modern movies

B-oo-ks??? Who reads books anymore??????????

I actually haven't gotten around to reading any of the books and would like to. For what it's worth I feel like her story deserves closure with the games anyways. Maybe I did misinterpret what the spirit is actually doing to her body health-wise (like her utilizing the spirit's powers pushed her closer to dying). Regardless, I still would have liked an Origins DLC with her and Shale doing the thing...it's like Golden Girls: Thedas or something.

The Shadow Man, Michael LeRoi.

A philosophical, brooding African voodoo warrior who can cross the veil of life and death. A complete fucking badass (well, at least until the second game, which was really lame) and he's an African American, so it would be great for the people who want more ethnic representation in video games.

I would love to see the return of Linn Kurosawa from the Alien vs Predator game specially in a fighter I think she could be real fun to design moves for and play as.

I would also love to see more Kain from the legacy of Kain series (prefered his original Blood Omen persona) but not sure if hes that obscure.

This would be my first choice by a mile. I'd also like to see a return for Christopher Stone of
fame.

Weiss from Nier.

A pompous and snarky spell book (but don't call him a book or he'll rant forever about how he's much more than a mere book). Voiced beautifully by Liam O'Brian, with the best lines in the entire game. Honestly, in my experience with the game Weiss's lines are the game's best feature.

I.E. Keats from Folklore. By far the stronger of the two main characters since Ellen mostly just wanders around being led by Scarecrow (Scarecrow himself being a rather good character.) while Keats gets dumped into the whole mess and snarks at the supernatural stupidity going on. In fact, Keats' playstyle is far more enjoyable than Ellen's, because naturally the female has a focus on ranged attacks while Keats gets right in there. His transcendent form is pretty ridiculous but is a bit of a Chekov's Gun and is fun to unleash on any Folk asking for a fight.

Now I want a sequel to Folklore. For a PS3 launch title with motion controls, it ain't bad.

The entire cast of Legend of Dragoon?

Come on, Sony, I'm sure you could make a PS4 sequel that looks goddamn amazing and has a much better battle system as well as soundtrack by this point. Maybe throw money at a certain publishing and development company to make it.

Wow, I thought I was the only one who remembered Glitch.
