Blair Witch Project #1: Rustin Parr
You never even knew a game existed for those movies right? They have an original storyline though, intersecting with Nocturne's and Bloodrayne's universe. It's a survival horror game in which you are investigating around in a creepy village, and, you guessed it, go around getting lost in the forest. The game is pretty terribad, as it's full of bugs and things I'm not sure if bugs or just brainfarts, but darn, is it downright scary overall... It's scariness matched that of the Penumbra and Silent Hill games for me. Definitely worth a shot. Oh, and stay away from the other 2 Blair Witch games. They suck harder than a vacuum cleaner.
Giants: Citizen Kabuto
Nice blend of genres (TPS, FPS, RTS, Peter Jackson's King Kong...) and a sense of humor that falls so flat sometimes, you can't help but laugh anyway. I've yet to meet anyone who mentions this game in threads like this, and given how great it is, I'm baffled by it.
I Was An Atomic Mutant
It's an arcade-style giant mosnter game where you shoot up the military and innocent people as one of the 4 giant monsters, all influenced by 50's giant monster films. The atmosphere is just fucking right, but the gameplay is repetitive. Still, like to dig it up and play every now and then. The cutscenes are made in 50's monster movie style also, and they're totally looking legit scenes from aforementioned movies. At first, I thouhgt they were actually from some of those.
Carmageddon series
You get extra time and money in a racing game for running over people and destroying your opponents. Anything else needs to be said? Fuck no. You want it.
Anachronox
God damn escapists, I'm either blind or I'm very disappointed in you all. Noone knows this? It has one of the best writings for an RPG, that is western but made in JRPG style (sorta). The jokes are hilarious, the characters are interesting, and the game ate up about 70 hours of my playing time and I still felt it was not long enough. The gameplay is something I've never seen before, the combat system is very unique. Needs definitely a LOT more love.
Monster In My Pocket
An NES game for Halloween, but not of the scary type. It doesn't try to be serious, yet it's not making any clear jokes either. It rather feels like a cartoon show from its age; little to no story (He bad, You good, go kill!) and lots of action. Tere's a great variety of enemies and bosses, and if you're anything like me, you'll complete it like 3 times a year.
The Tunguska adventure series
Not sure if there's a third game in the series yet, but I've heard rumors about it a few months back. The first one is an amazing-looking point and click title, with an interesting plot. It's not exactly Syberia or The Longest Journey, but satisfied my adventure-hunger easily. The second game is rather a so bad it's good type of game, and it's self-aware. For different reasons, I love them both. Definitely goig for that third one when it comes out.
And for a more recent one: To The Moon
Very strong writing with great and loveable characters, an interesting mistery that will keep you playing and... well... one of the most infuriating endings for me. Not going to spoil it, but it was pissing me off; maybe that was the point of it, maybe not, but either way I was not happy seeing it. Other than that, the game is amazing, the gameplay is "sufficient", despite all the critique's that say otherwise, and I love how they made a very powerful and emotional plot unfold with SNES-era JRPG graphics; with those "primitive" graphics they put more emotion into some scenes than anything that the latest Final Fantasy games ever tried to do with their deliciously expensive cutscenes. Bottom line, it's pretty cheap, google it up; it's worth your money. You should probably bring some tissues with you also.
That's all I remember now. Lots of games that could and should have done with a little bit more popularity and love in this thread, which makes me both sad and happy. Sad, because such amazing games are not recognized in a way they deserve it, and happy because now I can look up a lot of these titles and see which ones I can get
