I'm not much of a horror expert, but Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth, Pathologic, and The Thing come to mind.

I guess you could say Sanitarium. Not so much scary, but it has a FANTASTIC story.

Haunting Grounds/ Demento (and the Clocktower series, which it's a spinoff from).

Realms of the Haunting.

Eternal Darkness.

Echo Night: Beyond.

Seriously. If you can find it, it's awesome.

The White Chamber.

Freeware point-and-click adventure. Nice and creepy, and probably the most tense I've ever been playing one of these games.

Um...Obscure and Obscure 2?

Haven't played them, but they are well...Obscure.

Definitely get Eternal Darkness if you can, hell if you haven't got a Cube just buy one for this game alone. One of the best games ever made in my honest opinion.

If you want a more recent game, Siren Blood Curse is a solid title.

The Fatal Frame/Project Zero series is a great series of horrors to get into, with most people agreeing that the second one is the best of the bunch. A word of warning though, the second has got to be one of the most scariest games ever made, so be prepared to shit yourself a couple of times.

I know I lost some underwear and pants to FF2.

Rule of Rose is one of the creepiest games ive played(that mermaid, THAT MERMAID!!!).

Deadly premonition is also very good but its more of action horror. Its basically like Twin Peaks with RE4 gameplay.

Metro 2033? Dunno if it's really obscure and it's more like survival horror but i'd never herd of it until I found it in a bargain bin last week.

That's the one I came here to talk about. The game actually did a pretty good job of being creepy, and the way your character moves around really feels atmospheric.

I'm not a big survival horror person, mainly because I suck at them, but I enjoyed Rule of Rose.
