Oh boy. Does anyone remember that MASSIVE Collector ship floating above Horizon in ME2? Yeah, I somehow failed to see it on my first playthrough.

On AC4 totally didnt notice there was a heavy shot ability for cannons. Guess it would have made beating those for 5 legendary ships easier. lol.
Thank you for this. I'm only 5-6 hours into AC 4 and had no idea. I did see the heavyshot thing, but I had always assumed it was two names for the same broadside cannons and/or hadn't unlocked it yet. This'll make my pirating life so much easier :)

I didn't notice you can climb up the rope in WindWaker until the final boss where you have to do it.

I didn't know you could do that, funny thing was, there wasn't one place in the game that I had trouble with due to this.
I know that feel, makes you wonder what else you missed.

On the subject of Wind Waker. I think it was the first dungeon, where I have to cut the ropes on a bridge in order to descend to the level below it. Seriously, it took forever and accidental sword mashing to figure out! In my defense, shit like that was not possible in Ocarina of Time *grumps*

I never realized Sten was supposed to be a playable character in Dragon Age. To me he was some dude who had slaughtered a bunch of people and deserved what he got. I also never met Leliana...never had occasion to go into that particular bar.
i didn't get wynne because i was being a dick to her. made the game so much harder, even if have morrigan do nothing but heal it still sometimes isn't enough.
and i never understood how the spell combinations work in that game, i just randomly sometimes did stupid amounts damage.

Did you know that as the spy in TF2, you can place a sapper on a building that will first disable then destroy it?

'Cause I didn't. I didn't have a clue what the thing did, and for some reason I never looked online to find out...

I know, i kept seeing it and just thought the ship would be using it automatically. Those legendary ships are hard so the ability to change to heavy shot to do extra damage when close/broadside to them would have been a god send. I will be buying it again in the future so i can batter every ship with heavy shot. :)

Yeah, it took me a while to figure that out as well. :)

Also, it took me months to realize that in Guild Wars 2 you can send collectibles straight from your inventory to your bank. And all my inventory problems disappeared forever.

In Assassin's Creed 4 I found the spyglass was on R1 after 20+hours, I skipped the tutorial and was using the mortar instead.

In bravely Default I looked up for Japanese voices in Audio settings, found nothing thought well that's sad then 40 hours later found out it's in message settings.

In borderlands 2 the skill Sexual Tyrannosaure is a Predator reference took me forever to remember.

Yeah, the heavy cannons were not adequately explained in game. I knew they were there, but assumed they fired automatically while ammunition lasted. It wasn't until I watched an internet vid on tactics that I understood they can only be fired without activating the aim.

I didn't know you could rotate the eggs that Yoshi had accumulated in Yoshi's Island until Jon mentioned it on an episode of Game Grumps.

It also took me a while to work out that levels marked with a red dot signified an alternate exit in Super Mario World.

Regarding Squall's family in FFVIII.

{Laguna is his dad and Raine is his Mum! And Ellone is his real sister... Doi!}

My friend pointed it out to me and it all became clear. How did I miss it?!

In Final Fantasy IX, you can cast certain magic spells on multiple targets by pressing the R1-button.

I actually finished the game multiple times before I figured that one out. (Except I didn't really figure it out, it was only because I saw my little brother do it when he asked to play the game once.)
Same thing happpened to me, only I discovered it about halfway through Disc 2 on my first playthrough.

Also, it took me up until I restarted Ch. 6 a few times in Valkyria Chronicles before I found out you could save anywhere. Probably would have saved some time in previous battles. >->

I completely missed the first merchant (male undead) in Dark Souls.

I also accidentally attacked blacksmith Andre on that playthrough when I put the bloody controller down to get a drink, and had no idea how to "un-aggro" him (didn't want to look online), so had to kill him. I managed to completely miss all of the other blacksmiths (they are all kinda hidden), and was stuck with my useless, unupgraded weapons alongside whatever I could scavenge.

Ahh, first Dark Souls playthrough, you will always keep me humble.

Fallout 3: I discovered VATS by accident about... 20 minutes before I finished the game pre-Broken Steel. Yeah... I went that entire game iron sighting and running like fucking crazy.

I'd got like 13/14 hours into Rome: Total War before I realised diplomats could be used to bribe enemies into joining your armies. I always kind of end up neglecting diplomats because I usually just invest in spies and vast armies and crush whoever stands in my way. Then, earlier tonight I noticed the bribe function and bought out several cities using the massive amounts of cash at my disposal (playing as the Greek City States). Never will I overlook the bribe-tastic powers of diplomats ever again.

I didn't realize that pyro's air-blast could be used to push back enemies or reflect projectiles till last week when I did Mann-up mode in co-op and I got yelled at for not pushing back the robots
