I still don't know if I can blame the Oculus Rift people for selling out to Facebook. At this point, we really don't know what's going to happen. I'd say we should all just hope that Facebook got scammed out of 2 billion dollars, and the Rift will keep on working as advertised.

Wow that is a response straight out of the "Being EA 101" handbook, you really are trying to burn all the bridges now aren't you... next thing we know there will be an Oculus PR guy on twitter telling people to "deal with it".

Probably because the people you hear doom-saying the VR, such as the ones plastered over the Escapist Forums, are only a tiny, vocal, minority of people who are interested in the product. Most people don't think of Facebook as some sort of grim reaper, killing off anything it so much as touches. Some people just view it as another company, whose main service is a large social media website. Most people, when hearing this news, don't think, "DEATH OF VIRTUAL REALITY, RIP OCULUS, WHAT HAST THOU DONETH TO THINE SELF!!!" Instead they think something more along the lines of, "Oh, cool, now they'll have enough funding and exposure to make the best product they want."

As long as the product continues to speak for itself, I don't think there's any reason not to get it. There is nothing else even close to the rift that's available for purchase and this one has been getting incredible reviews.

Uh... Why don't you let us know in about a month or two if no negative and/or "drastic" changes in sales happen... Otherwise, I'll be cautious until the product becomes more available to the public, thank you...

Is it really appropriate to bring up the supposed Facebook branding when it's been disproven by a Facebook rep? It's been revealed as a false rumor; the article should at least reflect that.
you mean, facebook rep is above mark zuckberg? because he himself said it in interview with Reuters.

I don't think I'll be buying one. [a=http://www.cad-comic.com/cad/20140328]This comic pretty much sums up my fears[/a] concerning the Facebook buyout, but mainly because I wear glasses and I don't think the Rift will take into account that not all gamers have 20/20 vision.

The week the consumer product comes out, I'll likely greedily gobble it up pending any reviews claiming that FB has mandatory logins of course. I expect the first release will be exactly what they've promised though.

Then [Zuckerberg] said, ?What if we partner with you? You stay the same. Stay who you are. You expand that vision and focus on other things also. Gaming is core. But how can we help and invest significantly into the platform, the hardware, and bring down the cost of it. We could make it more optimized, do custom silicon, make this even better. What if we also invest in the parts so you can sell the virtual reality platform at cost?? [http://zacharycampbell.com/blog/category/virtual-reality/]
