I have the same "friends over family" philosophy as you do. Mostly due to my mother, that I love on some default level because she's my mother, but anything after that has been replaced with pure hatred. Friends are better I think, because you naturally gain and lose friends over the course of your life and that doesn't happen with family members.

My other philosophy is that life is a game with severely broken game design and no checkpoint reloading, but very well written dialogue and a surprisingly engrossing and engaging storyline.

Anarchemitis said:
Obi Wan Kenobi once said "Only a Sith deals in absolutes."
Yoda once said "Do or Do not. There is no try."
Which is interesting because both Yoda AND himself contradicted that statement, because "only" is an absolute, too.

My personal philosophy is treat others as I'd want to be treated, which admittedly is hard to keep up on the Internet. But in real life, I'm not a confrontational person at all. So I do my best to hold doors, help people, and whatnot. Even when I'm angry I can't bring it upon myself to take it out on those who don't deserve it. It's like this little part of my brain kicks in that says "SHUT UP! YOU'LL ONLY REGRET THIS LATER!"

Well my religion is atypical. I have always noticed most of my thinking was backwards from today's society which interestingly enough my philosophy says is a good thing. I do things to keep balance. Whatever that means depends on the context.

(sorry, I am not very good with open-ended questions like this)
