If you've already played Halo ODST then you have to know what i am talking about. most of the music from halo 1-3 has consisted of pretty much drums, vocal chanting, and occasionaly a few strings. but ODST has pretty much redone everything to the point that you would have never guessed the soundtrack from Halo 3 and ODST were part of the same series, hell, even that one is an expansion of the other.

the parts with the rookie at night are always a slow, calm fusion type of jazz that works pretty much the entire time your playing even when your getting assaulted by 7 brutes. add the fact that it all happens at night and then the music is just adding to atmosphere. then when you take over another squadmate, you end up hearing a combination of a full orchestra along with the occasional electric guitar. without ruining anything, my favorite music of the game is when you play as Romeo.

I have always been a fan of the halo music ever since it started, and this, in my personal opinion, is a very nice change to what we have been hearing for years and i'm glad that i got the soundtrack off of Itunes the same day the game came out.

but this is me talking out of my musically-biased ass, so i would like to know if anyone else feels the same

I found that some of it worked, but most of it just got on my nerves. I agree that the night rookie sections are good.

ODST has a great soundtrack. It fits the dark and quiet atmosphere. It even has some songs from Halo 3. (though they are edited)

And I agree with the OP. The music it plays when your Romeo is my favorite also.

I've always loved the music in the Halo series and I was pleasantly surprised by Halo ODST

I liked the music all round, I like how the music changed whenever you complete another ODST mission like after Romeo's mission it has sad dramatic music which fits the Rookie finding out that one of his teammates has been badly wounded

since the game was so new i actually tried to avoid that, but i know what you mean. Martin O'Donnell and Micheal Salvatori are amazing composers. they know what they are doing and i am GREATLY looking forward to the music in Reach.

What is there to say? Halo makes good music that always helps set the tone and the music from ODST is no exception. With nice mellow piano sequences that fit the lonely pondorous atmosphere of the game I have to hold up ODST's music as a great example of a complete fine tuning of the music (pun not intended please don't kill me) shows us a different theme for a different protagonist and an entirely different game. There's really a lot to like in Halo music as it stands and ODST used new themes that just sound right.
Man that was some really heavy fan gushing there.

I haven't finished playing the campaign yet, but what I've heard so far matches well with the earlier O'Donnell/Salvatore efforts at Bungie. Amazing stuff; I'll be buying the soundtrack album this weekend, I think.

The music adds to the loneliness of playing as The Rookie alone in the city... Very Well done.

after i finished the ONI alpha site mission and looked at the new art while listening to an amazing piece of music, I realised that the music and ODST was bloody fantastic.

I think that this music is unlike most of Halo and definitely adds to the most atmospheric game in the franchise. Overall, it makes this the most unique of the Halo's. Now if you'll excuse me I need to finish listening to Sadie's story.

Marty's good... really good.

I'll say that game probably wouldn't have felt half as satisfying without that music playing while wondering around the city.
