Despite the taboo on halo threads I have a few questions for the escapists.

Do you like ODST?

If so then why? How do you think it improved?

Any reason you are disappointed with it?

I come in peace hoping we can for once discuss this series civilly.

I personally like the new addition. I think it is the only good game in the series and firefight is a LOT of fun and works on the same good principles that made the multilayer enjoyable. So the increased realism may be a desperate attempt to fix the silliness most people complained about in halo 3 but i think it worked and makes the game funner and slightly more immersive.

Firefight mode was the only good thing about that game.

And it's not that I just hate Halo... I loved Halo 3 and will always defend it.
There was just something about it that put me off, but I guess technically it was pretty solid.

Never thought I would do this but... search button please.

OT: Haven't played it yet. Don't have the cash :( But after reading all the other threads discussing the same thing as this thread is, I really want it. Seems like a fun game.

My only real complaints aboot Halo ODST are length (No need to elaborate) and weapons. Not in the I am mad that there are only two new weapons and they aren't even new; they are just modifications of old weapons sense. My favorite weapon combination in Halo 3 was Grabbiddy hammuh/ NRG sword + sentinel beam. The sentinel beam and energy sword were cut because their presence would make no sense with the situation and gravity hammers were extremely rare.

It made me feel more vulnerable, the squad banter was good, the voice acting was enjoyable to listen to and the storyline was passable. Plus it let me play as Malcolm Reynolds.

Any reason you are disappointed with it?
Single player was kinda short (expected), I don't enjoy the ODST multiplayer modes that they brought in for Halo 3 multiplayer.

They didn't let me fly the Phantom. I really wanted to fly the Phantom. Really I did. :(

I've not tried Firefight. Not had a chance to yet (change in living situation), but I've heard good things about it

Yes I like ODST.

I don't know why I like it, it just feels halo and right. I didn't really get the story somewhat, but I enjoyed the campaign.

I feel Halo CE is still the best, and will never be replaced. I wish elites would have been in the game as an enemy, and work with the brutes. And, half way through, we see the brutes turn on the elites. That would have made the game almost perfect for me. Oh, and matchmaking for firefight.

EDIT: as someone pointed out, the phantom. Why must they tempt us and never use it? :(

Well I just snapped.
I'll give a proper response to this when half of my city lays dead at the bottom of a lake.

I enjoyed it and like it for five reasons.

Reason 1. The story is good, if a little short.

Reason 2. The voice acting and music was very good.

Reason 3. It came with all the maps for Halo 3 multi-play.

Reason 4. I found it engaging and challenging.

Reason 5. VIRGIL!!!!

My minor gripes were sometimes my A.I were a bit squiffy and just stayed in cover for 5 minutes in a gun fight. The ending seemed a bit sudden and also, as mentioned, I wanted to fly the Phantom too. Come on, put a mission in where you nick a Phantom and then have to escort it instead of flying it? That seems a bit of a rip.

I loved it.

Why? Because it had 3 guys from firefly which automatically makes anything 10x more awesome.

Seriously though it's a solid entry in the series. Sometimes I caught myself thinking "oh great the levels over. Now I have to go back to that boring city for 10 minutes before I can do something interesting.

The story unfolded gradually and led up to a brilliant climax.

Also I'd always wondered what the engineers and Biofoam looked like.

My only complaint is the campaign isn't very long but that's not too noticable.

I'm sure it sucks just as much as all the other Halo games. I loved Halo 1 for about a year, back before I knew what a good game is.

Then I found Valve and Sauerbraten, and, well...

I like the fact that they finally gave some thought that maybe the brutes can't see into pitch black corners, so now instead of being sniped while you're in the darkest part of the map, you can actually avoid contact with some enemies (during the night.)
