First, read this:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/10183820.stm

1/ don't you think this is a privacy violation that puts the regular citizen into an always Guilty situation?

2/ Are we going like in the USA with that "Culture of Debt" thing? where everybody will pay all their lives like serfs in the middle ages?

I truly think this is a terrible idea. What if I drive down the road apiece to the old lady's house and use her wifi to download movies? She'd be charged, and anyone with a wifi isn't safe from a random warning or even a lawsuit, apparently.

By the same token a true pirate could have an unsecure network and feign ignorance when he's questioned, keeping the files off of his PC on an external HDD hidden in a closet if the cops come calling to search his computer.

They seem to try and fix both of these, but the words "alleged" piracy makes it seem like they are blindly swinging the law at people. Lives could be ruined, by false allegations or hijacked networks. It's disgusting and definitely oozes an attitude of "guilty until proven innocent".

I'm just glad I'm in America, I sure don't want some bullshit like that popping up in the mail because some jackass at my ISP thinks I'm pirating.
