Well I'm sorry but I really don't see how you find this insulting, one company is claiming to have a more knowledgeable staff then the other.

Trust me when I say the employees at my towns local retailer *cough* Best Buy *cough* really suck.
I've been there quite a few times to buy things and I've had to help other people out because the employees there know nothing.

I find it hilarious because of how badly newegg screws over Canadians.

And this is just me but they could at least serve me dinner.

Because I like to be wined and dined before I'm FUCKED.

I have worked in electronics retail and made a name for myself as the local go to guy since I would rather help than needlessly up-sell, I found the ad hilarious and particularly accurate to a lot of people I have worked with, including a coworker who was working with me to pay off damages to his brothers car which he destroyed in a police chase, and his brother was a lawyer and sued his ass into the ground. AND THEN he got fired for selling drugs in the store to other workers. And during all of that he didn't know a damn thing about the electronics he sold every day. It's funny and people need to stop trying to be offended.

It really is sad that people have such soft skin when it comes to being offended and insulted. I've been degraded by people in the worst possible ways in my life, and this stuff that people complain about comes no where close to even mildly upsetting me for a second.

They aren't. They don't mention their employees once. They don't claim that other employees are worse than theirs. They don't claim that their's are better.

The whole point of the ad is that you get information without any reliance on any employee.

Surprise, surprise. The ad works for condescending cynical people. I rest my case.
The ad works for people who have gone to a store and encountered horrible employees, which is just about everyone. The ad is aimed at bad employees, and if you feel offended by it, then you are a bad employee.

Here is the gist of the ad "Look, at the store, employees may not be able to answer your questions, but at Newegg there's plenty of review by people who own the actual product, those making them far more knowledgeable about it than anyone at a store" That is the truth. I'm still not understanding quite how that offends you.

Having worked in retail for some time, I don't think I've ever come across a customer that asked me such a sensible question in a polite voice.

Usually it's the equivalent of
"Oi, do you have that book off the TV. It's got an orange cover."

The smarter customers are the ones that have already read the pieces of information detailing the changes between the products. Because that's all we'll be doing.

Even Geeks can't tell you the precise difference between two products. And Newegg can't either.
