What in your gaming career, have you experienced a moment where puzzle or section of a game was instantly made clear by something you misunderstood or ignored? Whats your greatest "oh, I get it now" moment.

Mine had to be in Battlefield: Bad Company. I was finally playing through the game on the hardest difficulty and was getting my ass kicking by the artillery barrage on the last level (the sand dunes with a fuckload of tanks.

I start the section over a again and hear Sweetwater yell out "Those artillery guns are still operational!" I start yelling at him to shut the fuck up and the i hits me; I can use the operational guns to take out the tanks.

And so i take them out but not before around 7 of them close in on my position and have to be taken out with a series of jumping, C4 and RPG's. Needless to say i got all of the achievements and finished the level.

When I learned that I could not only reflect bullets, but throw them back in Afro Samurai.

I was stuck on a boss for 1 hour because of that

The last room before the boss in Ocarina of Time's Forest Temple. I know it had something to do with those blocks sticking out of the wall, but I had no idea that they could be pushed. I was trying to destroy them =P

Yeah those riddles on Batman: AA where you have to line up the riddler symbol that's hidden somewhere. It was annoying as hell trying to figure out what the riddle itself meant at first but once I got it the rest were easy.

Pretty much everything in Uncharted 2. The amount of time I've spent looking for ledges/paths to get up somewhere probably amounts to the length of MW2's campaign.

Prince of Persia the 2 Thrones. Found out on that boss fight with 2 weapon wielding maniacs that you have to get them in the exact precise position so that you can perform a QTE attack that absolutely raped their health.

Only took 2 months to figure this out.

So you spent 5 minutes looking for them?

When my friend learned that you can knife enemies through their riot shields in modern warfare 2 the game got easier.

Well, I guess on the mirrors edge demo at the end I didn't know where to go until I realized that the flashing bar in the air was an helicopter that I could jump on.

I usually play Rock Band, and when it's a hammer on the next note appears smaller to let you know. 12 songs into Guitar Hero and I FINALLY realized the Hammer Ons slightly glow on top. All my friends thought I was retarded...

Ocarina of time - The ice cave before the second water temple. Using the blue fire to melt the everlasting ice. It took me a week to realise you had to catch it in the bottle. The 'OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHH' In the middle of a bus journey earned me a lot of weird looks.

My copy of Ico had no manual, meaning I had to puzzle out the controls on my own. You can swing on chains by holding a button when you're climbing one, but you never have to do this until pretty deep into the game. Naturally, I had no idea how to do it and got as stuck as I would get the whole game.

When I started swinging by accident, it was AWESOME.

When I played Starfox: Adventure, which I loved, I got stuck on a puzzle where there is a giant rotating totem poll. I had no idea what to do and after trying everything I could think of, I gave up. About a year later, my friend came over and after we got on the topic of the game, told me I had to use the first ability that you got to stop the peices in the right spots.

The water temples in nearly any given Zelda game (except Twilight Princess, that was fairly easy). They are ridiculously hard (for me anyway), until something in your head goes *CLICK* and then you say 'How did I not see/think of that before'. The water temple as Adult Link in OoT had me completely stumped for ages, I found the Spirit Temple (and to a lesser extent the Shadow Temple) easier than the water temple.
