Last night Nick Cage was arrested in New Orleans on charges of domestic abuse battery, disturbing the peace and public drunkenness. Apparently what happened is he and his wife had been out drinking and they got into it over whether or not a house was the one they were renting.

So what are your thoughts? Does the spotlight just drive people mad, or are celebrities just more likely to get exposure when they lose their shit?

I just remembered this little gem from last year. While filming Ghost Rider 2 he got in an argument with some guy and shouted that he would "die in the name of honor" the sound quality sucks on the video but if you listen close you can make out most of what he is yelling.

Frankly, the spotlight only illuminates. People ARE mad. Celebrities just get it caught on camera.

Tell me you don't have a similar story about one night when you got SO drunk that....

I get that they just get noticed more but I've always wondered if something about being in the spotlight drives celebrities to do shit like this. Perhaps the exposure causes them to act out.

No I don't, my family has a long and inglorious history of alcoholism so I just try to steer clear of it all together.

Ah, well...I'm sure you already know the madness that alcohol can cause. You have my condolences.

I don't know if it's the spotlight more than just other people. What would you do if there were a million people hanging on your every word? That's got to be immensely stressful.

Exactly this. I work in law enforcement. You know there's like 20 cases just like this...
a day...
in my city alone...
that are reported.

not that it's okay, it's just not a big deal.

This.

And I never understood Nicholas Cage. He obviously has some degree of talent, why does he appear to say yes to everything pitched to him?
