You already have pub club, it says "premium member" above your avatar and there's a little Escapist "e" on your profile page. Changing your avatar or custom message shouldn't have any effect if the bug that gave nearly everybody pub club is ever fixed. In that case your avatar should revert to your non-pub club version.

I was confused by the motto of the day as well. Apparently it changes around every 15 minutes to a random user's motto. It's in the place of the ad just like the "A Thing About Stuff" panel at the bottom, which was made by Shamus Young I believe (who, incidentally was also given the boot).

The Escapist has been pretty much dead for the last two years, the only reason I frequent this place at all is for the RP that myself, Fappy, and some others have been working on for 3 years (which we're now in the process of archiving and moving elsewhere).

The last of the people that made this place great (in its heyday) are leaving, sad to see a place I once loved fall into the absolute shit stain it is now.

Did the whole forum get watered down with the new influx of users due to GamerGate? Why are people being laid off?

Even though I have an unfavorable opinion of Gamergate, I don't think the blame should be pinned solely on them, (only some of it, ha!)

Nope, the main problem I've seen is the slow but steady bleeding of content. Each time a big drawcard leaves (like MovieBob or Jim), they take a lot of the userbase with them (those users who were here just for those big personalities and nothing else). And Escapist never quite succeeds at replacing this content with something equally as popular.

The bleeding of content coupled with unwise management decisions is not even a new thing either. Escapist 'oldies' will tell you that this all started back during the Extra Credits fiasco (which was a bit before my time).

Aw shit, I'd forgotten about Extra Credits somehow. They've been overwritten in my mind by that Spirit Science drivel.
Remind me, the escapist wanted their crowdfunding money, was it?

I better get my old avatar back. I cant re-upload it since I lost the original and it wasn't something just pulled from the internet but something drawn for me. Certainly don't want to lose it because I was "gifted" with a free subscription when I was against it from the start. Ironic and unpleasant.
