Okay, so - the objective of this is to show others awesome games they might not know about. Rules are you post one old game you love and one new game you love and why.

Grandia: The original Grandia was incredible. I first played this outdated, incredibly retro game in 2004 and stuck to it rather than my PS2 for about two months. It was an incredible experience, despite poor voice acting (excusable seeing as it was one of the first games to incorporate voice acting) and every "Grandia" title so far absolutely pales in comparison.

It has one of the best and most innovative battle systems I've ever used, and a decade later I've still yet to see something as brilliant as it.

I'm gonna get this out of the way - I hate JRPGs as a set rule. I always leave three exceptions: Jade Cocoon, the Final Fantasy series (up until ten) and this.

If you can find this in a bargain bin, ebay... whatever. You need this game in your life if you are an RPG fan.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker: I'm going to say something now that I never thought I'd say. This is the best game I have ever played. Ever.

Let that set in for a second - the PSP, a platform many dismiss as dead, has pulled some sort of monkey/typewriter shit and this is the result.

Where to begin? Okay. To start with it's got all the good stuff from Portable Ops (soldier recruitment, job assignment etc) but expanded much more. There's now more roles and spots available, as well as interchangable uniforms of a ridiculous amount of different types, which can be given to any soldier other than Snake, too.

Ridiculous amount of equipment and items too, from the stealth mat to the all powerful rail gun, which takes two people to use... bringing me to my next point.

Co-op gameplay. This game does it amazingly. Playing a boss battle with three other friends (especially considering the game has a large amount of different boss battles to accomidate people who want to do this) is absolutely epic and amazing.

It also fills in some of the biggest gaps in the MGS4 story (to spoil as least as possible, how the AIs came about and why they exist). The story is brilliant, if a little to take in. Luckily, the game is broken down into bitesize chunks over many missions, allowing it to be played on the move pretty easily.

Speaking of on the move, PW takes the same scanning system from Portable Ops and lets you scan for soldiers on the move. Each wifi hotspot in the world has soldiers you can recruit and fight to have them join your group.

Basically? Buy this game if you have a PSP. I actually bought another PSP just for this game as my old one had broken, and I haven't regretted the decision at all.
