I got Fallout 3 not too long ago for my 360 when it came out, and I really did enjoy the game for what it was. At this point, I had no previous experience with the original, but had wasted way too much time playing oblivion. The similarities between those two have been said a million times and are quite obvious. I heard a lot of people complaining that this caused the game to be nothing like the original games, so I went and got Fallout 2. I was excited at first to see where it all started (sort of) but on getting out of the first village I realized it was pretty difficult to get much of anything accomplished and the turn based combat got really old and boring when you need action points to fucking WALK up to the enemy and wait for them to finish wailing on your ass until you could get your first strike it. Perhaps I am too spoiled by modern games being less difficult, but it became a real pain in the ass. The plot sort of had me running all over the place, not really sure what was going on or what to do. It became such a pointless waste of time I just said fuck it and stopped playing. Fallout 3 is similar in that respect but it's not as extreme, I still had a general idea of what I had to do to progress slightly in the storyline. The people in Fallout 2 however, were more interesting and you could murder all the children you wanted, which was a nice stress reliever. Fallout 2 had more to do but was very difficult and seemed to me to take too long. Fallout 3 could have been such a better game though, and I now see why people don't really consider it a sequel. What can you really expect from Bethesda, though?
