old game is not working...

(combat flight simulator '1998') on windows vista and 7, i get a message saying its resigning my joystick from (random text) to (random text), and doesn't work, I've tried a virtual hard drive with xp but it wont see my joystick, and no my joystick is working. anyone have this problem or know a way to fix it?

I've had a similar problem. I fetched my gamecube from the garage earlier to play some Wind Waker, and while the thing will boot up fine it will totally fail to register and read any and all discs. Now I have a sad little box that won't give me what I want. It's like Happy Meals all over again!
