If you remember many of the games that would not go on due to company shutting down, or lack of popularity, it would be nice to list them here, and also say if you played them or not.

Earthbound with its huge fanbase is a obvious one.

Croc PS1 and PC, great platformer, great character, company shut down, which dissapointed me.

Tomba for the PS1, Tomba 2 being my favorite, company also shut down.

Sly Cooper for ps2, even though Sucker Punch says they will make a fourth by the end of 2009, its almost the end of the year and still i dont see gameplay or pictures anywhere, i hope it comes out next year at least, and if there is details, knowing would be nice.

Pikmin from the gamecube still not having a 3rd game and it being almost 2010, i would like to see something about pikmin being revived. (I know miyamoto discussed it, just want them to verify it more)

Medievil for the ps1, a new game would be fantastic since i love the first one, never played the second one.

Jak and Daxter games. A new company made a lackluster title for it. However Naughty Dog isn't/hasn't been working on the franchise.

I also agree with Sly Cooper

Earthbound... I even played the fan translated Mother games online...
I agree with Sly Cooper, that was one of my favorite games.
But the biggest one would need to be Psychonauts. Not story wise, but it was such a good game! I would buy a second one in a heartbeat.

Hopefully blast corps could be added to the virtual console by high demand, but like earthbound, even with high demand, we get no results from nintendo unless its a current generation title.

Chrono Trigger needs a real sequel. Chrono Cross was NOT a real sequel. I've never actually played it, but I know that it takes place in the same universe as Chrono Trigger, with a different cast and a completely different story. That's not actually a sequel, just sort of a spin-off. I really want to see a REAL sequel to Chrono Trigger with the same cast of characters as the original. I know that it had several different endings, but a lot of them were variations on the same ending. The easy thing for Square Enix to do would be to pick the best ending from the original, then continue the story from there. Or, they could remake the original for modern consoles with hard drives, then emulate Mass Effect and have the story continue in the next game after whatever ending you got in the first game.

It probably won't ever happen, but I would play the sequel if it was ever made.

I don't shop on the Virtual Console...since I rarely ever use my Wii, and I still have my N64 hooked up with Blast Corps sitting in it. Let me just check for that other game I mentioned though...*literally walks over to his bin of games* Space Station Silicon Valley. Awesome game. *plays as a King Rat and farts* Genius.

Wayne Gretzkey 3D Hockey was awesome too.

Another game to add is Brave Fencer Musashi, that game was great, yet never got enough regconition due to the FF7 demo being on that same CD.
Sqaure needs to step it up and make a new Musashi game.

Evil Genius
Evil Genius was an awful game. I wanted so much to like it but too many features had no actual impact on gameplay. If you looked into the game code you could see that it was not released in a finished state.

Now the Dungeon Keeper series, that was a tragedy even if the multiplayer sucked.

Gonna go back to the end of the '90s for a second.

On December 31, 1999, a little 2D platformer by the name of Silhouette Mirage was released in the US. It wasn't exactly a new title, having been published on the Sega Saturn and released in Japan more then two years earlier, but the folks at Working Designs said to themselves "you know, we have this game here, and it's pretty spiffy. Let's release it."

The game was a side-scrolling actioner which was very similar to Gunstar Heroes. On top of that, it featured an oddball color swapping system. A player would use differently-colored attacks simply by facing a particular direction, as well as absorbing the energy or oncoming attacks by facing in a certain direction (the phase-shifting deal in Ikaruga, but in a platformer), and the game accommodated this quite well.

Unfortunately, it was an obscure game combining elements of two other titles (Gunstar Heroes and Ikaruga) all designed by a single group, Treasure. So this game seems to have been cast into the redheaded stepchild role. As far as popularity, it's not Gunstar Heroes, it's not even Dynamite Headdy, but it's still a wild, imaginative, and fun game.
