-Do you still like the games you used to play when you were younger? Those games on NES/Genesis/Pong that you loved back then and couldn't get enough of when it was out.

-Have you bought them on a port on an far more advanced system? (Final Fantasy Anthology, Atari Classics, Sonic Mega Collection) or perhaps downloaded them as a rom?

-Do you still enjoy it as a port playing it on a different controller? OR do you think that the feeling of blowing the dust out of a cartridge and sliding it into the slot and turning it on and playing with your D-pad/joystick 2-4 button controller can't be replicated by anything but the real deal?

Why does no-one remember to include the Atari consoles? The Jaguar is still, to this day, my favorite console. And while I'm at it, why does nobody remember the Commodore 64? Come on! Ghostbusters and Bruce Lee [http://www.planetflibble.com/blitz/] were the best games ever made.

Ghouls and Goblins on the Genesis kept me and my friends up all night. And we had Left 4 Dead and xbox live a arms length away.

I was referring to anything you might have loved way back when. Personally I never even played Atari or Commodore 64, my first system was a Sega Genesis haha

Everyone's giving such short answers haha. I'll just give it a go

Yes my old favorites are still my favorites, I've bought ports of some of them only to be mostly disappointed because they did feel somewhat different to me despite being very well ported though they were still enjoyable. Nothing will replace the old 3 button controller feel of a game when it's one of the classics I loved playing like the OLD Sonic games, Sparkster/Rocket Knight Adventures, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Hyperstone Heist, Phantasy Star IV, Shining Force 2, Earth Worm Jim 1 and 2, Streets of Rage 2, Road Rash 3.

All fun titles only more fun on their orignal system, I'm sure it's because this is my first system ever and also some of my first games but they're still great and even better on the old genesis. Now if I can just get Sega Channel back I'd be set haha.

I play through Earthbound at least twice a year on my computer. (I actually own the game, too^^)

I also just recently played through Earthworm Jim 1+2 and Super Mario World 2 again. Can you guess what my favorite console is? :p

Honestly, I still sometimes play Pokemon red on my game boy. It's too much fun!
I could play that again I think, it was a great fun game from what I recall and it didn't seem to be as ridiculous as these new ones. I haven't honestly played any of them past silver but I heard it's at like 300 or something now??

I love older games, I love them all but sometimes it's hard to get into them. I blame my lack of attention span or the fact that so many of them are available at once, since they're so old and either cheap or free. It's the emulation mentality that ruins a lot of this stuff really, you play something and then there's something else there to move right on to. There's no more "I spent 40 dollars" on something that isn't really worth one dollar today.
Yep. This is one of the biggest drawbacks to piracy in general, but particularly with old games.

I still play DOOM from time to time, I think I've played it at least once every couple of months since 1994 or so and I don't plan on quitting that any time soon. :p Recently I've also been playing Sonic 1 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 on Xbox Live Arcade, as well as NES and SNES Mario games on the Wii Virtual Console. (I have a NES, SNES and Megadrive too, but I'm lazy and like just playing the games on my 360/Wii. :p) I definitely still enjoy playing retro games every once in a while. They are all just really fun games, time does not change that.

Do you think playing them on the original controller would make the whole retro gaming more fun? Or it doesn't make a difference.

X-COM: UFO Defense (or Enemy Unknown as it's known in Europe) is probably my favorite old-school game ever... i still play it to this day, even though it's 20 years old now! as far as i'm converned, there's never been a better turn based strategy game ever released... i think many modern games could learn a few things from X-COM...

if you've never tried it, i highly recommend it... you can get it on steam for dirt cheap right now as part of the X-COM anthology.... don't bother with the other games in the pack though, the rest are garbage with maybe the exception of X-COM 2: Terror From the Deep...
