Well since win95 was just a GUI for DOS, a DOS emu should do the trick-Zen- said:Say, is there a Windows 95/98 emulator for Vista?
Really? So I could run, say, Quest for Glory V on DOSBox?PopeJewish said:Well since win95 was just a GUI for DOS, a DOS emu should do the trick-Zen- said:Say, is there a Windows 95/98 emulator for Vista?
Well I don't see why not... worth a shot at least.-Zen- said:Really? So I could run, say, Quest for Glory V on DOSBox?PopeJewish said:Well since win95 was just a GUI for DOS, a DOS emu should do the trick-Zen- said:Say, is there a Windows 95/98 emulator for Vista?
I think it works for just about any game that old. I've used it for games even older, and it works fine.Irridium said:Well I don't see why not... worth a shot at least.-Zen- said:Really? You should play Gabriel Knight. It also takes DOSBox to work.Irridium said:Hm, interesting.meganmeave said:I think it works for just about any game that old. I just use it to play Daggerfall, so yeah...
Why yes, I do like adventure games.meganmeave said:You should play Gabriel Knight. Do you play adventure games?
Look at me, stealing this thread now that it's over. I'm nefarious.
Well, in comparison, I guess I'm not so nefarious.Irridium said:Why yes, I do like adventure games.
And your not nefarious.
Hm... sounds interesting. I'll have to look for it.meganmeave said:Well, in comparison, I guess I'm not so nefarious.Irridium said:Why yes, I do like adventure games.

And if you like adventure games, you should try Gabriel Knight. It has Tim Curry faking one of the most gloriously awful southern accents ever. And he's still pretty awesome in it.
Like I said, Windows 85/98/ME, were just GUIs based on a DOS system. They switched that up a bit with 2000/xp/vista/7 and went full over to NTFS. Now while they made significant improvements to the system overall, 95 was literally just a GUI for DOS 3.0 (I think, I don7t remember the exact DOS release, anyway) as in the first versions you had to run through DOS with a cmd. So any game for those OS's were based out of DOS, meaning you'd need a DOS emu to run them.meganmeave said:I think it works for just about any game that old. When are they releasing it on Steam? I'll have to keep an eye out for it. I never played Loom, though I have played quite a few of the Lucas Arts games.PopeJewish said:Like I said, Windows 85/98/ME, were just GUIs based on a DOS system. As for adventure games, one I have very fond memories of when I was a kid (aside from the obvious Day of the Tentacles) was Loom by Lucas Arts. The game was fantastic. Apparently they're going to re-release it via steam soon, which is awesome, and they're considering doing a full remake, which is awesome-er
Oh my mistake. I just looked it up and it's already out. it's $5 USD for the game, or $10 for the Lucas Arts Adventure Pack (which includes 2 Indy Jones games, The Dig, and Loom). That game is totally worth $5, if only Steam was so crappy and let me buy games where I live I'd be all over thatmeganmeave said:When are they releasing it on Steam?
