i recently picked up team fortress classic off steam, and enjoyed it immensely, about as much as TF2, what old games do you still get a kick out of?

rule: must be released before '05 to be considered "old"

All of the ones i have in my library? I actually enjoy my old games more than my new ones . And before you stamp " NOSTALGIA GOGGLES" on this post , yes i have replayed them . So much so that i think i'm going to quit the newage gaming and become soley a retro gamer.

To name a few:

Parasite eve
Legend of legaia
Legend of dragoon
Crono trigger
Final fantasy tactics ( the original )
Final fantasy 6 ( i replay this once a year )
Secret of mana
Golden eye 007
Perfect dark
Final fantasy 7,8,9
Diddy kong racing

And lots lots more.

Before '05?

Uh... Half Life 2 came out in '04, right?

That's about the only game I still like from that time period or before.

It's been so long since I replayed/simply played stuff from that time period that I may very well be a victim of nostalgia goggles.
But from what I can remember liking... Fable. Uuuuh, the Timesplitters series, and the DBZ fighting games I guess.
God I need to go back and play shit.

Oooh, I started playing Vagrant Story from the PSN recently. It's pretty good.

Legend of the green dragon (Web Browser game based of an older game)
And SUMMON NIGHT 2: SWORD CRAFT STORY, whenever ANYONE asks for a good game I will always suggest this!

I would say Pokemon Blue and other older Pokemon games, but I feel like I'm cheating there.

Silent Hill 3 and Diablo II are still pretty awesome to me, and many others since I do tend to have an itch to play really old games that I've enjoyed every so often.

I guess cheating is a very strong word, I suppose usual suspect?

Nothing wrong with Pokemon, I have a very deep love for it, but it gets mentioned a lot.

Yeah I've noticed that too.

But they are great games, besides in all the "what age" topics here many seem to be in the age that they were young kids when those games got released so it's a certain thing they get mentioned a lot :)

Games released before '05 are old? Dammit world, I should not start to feel old when I am only 19! That is just not right!

OT: Lots of games. Great big piles of them, really. There are dozens upon dozens of great games released before '05 that are still damn fine today. Listing them all out would take me far, far to long. :p

That's true.

It's a wonder that my copy of Pokemon Blue and Red works just as perfectly now as it did back then. :D

I am still getting a lot of mileage out of the original Deus Ex even now.

Also, Tyrian 2000 and Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries/MechWarrior 3, just to round out games from roughly that era.

The whole Myst series, for one.

The Roller Coaster Tycoon series, for another.

The early Avernum/Geneforge games.

The DnD based RPGs.

Most of Apogee Entertainment's output.

A shorter list would be "What old games did I not like?"

2005?... Really, that's old?

Probably 75% of my favourite games came out before 2005...

Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VI, Morrowind, Starcraft, Warcraft 3, vanilla WORLD OF WARCRAFT! LoZ Link to the Past and OoT, and so on

...and motherf***ing TETRIS :D

Or what games AFTER 2005... 'tis a silly question for anyone out of their teens methinks.

So Shadow of the Colossus isn't considered "old".

...WOOOO!

Well two years ago I bought and played through both Final Fantasy VII and IX for the first time via PSN. Both great games, ESPECIALLY IX. God I love that game.

I also like to play Spyro the Dragon or Oddworld Abe's Oddysee now and again too.

And I guess ICO counts as well since it came out back in 2001 or 2.
