That game is on my laptop right now, I love it so much.

It made me so happy beating it way back in... was it 93? 94?

Actually Link to the Past was released in 1992, according to Gamespot and my memory.

OT: I still like to play Super Mario Bros. 3 now and then.

I think the oldest ones I still play are the original Dragon Quest (or rather, Dragon Warrior) , FF1 and 3D World Runner... though I have to dig out the NES I bought on eBay to play them...

I regularly play X-com+X-com TFTD and Aliens Vs Predetor 2 [released in 2000] and im still trying to get through the original F.E.A.R and I recently bought the Original Fallout however as my second trip into isometric RPG's [My First Being Diablo] It's tough Going, As is Half-Life. Err besides that theres command and Conquer Red Alert 2 and GTA San Andreas.
I'm Done.

What's PSX? and the oldest game that I actually play on a somewhat regular basis is Team Fortress 2 on my PS3.

PSX was the original PlayStation. Was huge and dark grey. Sony then created a smaller, lighter grey verson of it called the PSone.

Diablo II, the original doom trilogy, and heroes of might and magic IV. Ive had diablo continuously installed since it was released

I still occasionally pop in some of the first gen NES games from time to time (from '84-85), like Super Mario Bros, Clu Clu Land, Balloon Fight.

More regularly played old games, though, would probably be some games on my well-worn, but still functional Amiga 500 like Roadwar 2000 ('87), Lord of the Rising Sun ('89), Starflight ('89), Dungeon Master ('88), Defender of the Crown ('86), Pirates! ('90) etc.

If we're talking games you probably couldn't go long without, however, about once a month I'll play a little of at least one of the following on the PC: Sword of the Samurai ('89), Railroad Tycoon Deluxe ('93), and/or Master of Magic ('94)

And, if we're talking emulated stuff, then I'd have to dig back for some of the early 80's goodies in MAME.

Really good games are like classic movies or books. Even if you know them by heart, they're still fun to go through again and, unlike the more static media, there is a greater chance of things being different, depending on the type of game.

Wasn't DM '87? That is a game I would more than likely still play if I had it.

Huh, that means I was 12 when I beat it. Woop!

Mario 3 is great too... twas a toughie that one, too. Those last levels on the Airships and Tanks were nasty!

When I get a GC back, I'll probably be going through and playing a bunch of old GC games...as for now, huh...dunno. Playing new stuff, I guess technically Bioshock is the OLDEST I'm playing right now...

You are correct. Dungeon Master was originally released in '87 on the Atari. The Amiga version came out in '88, though, and that's the date I was going on.

It's sort of surprising because it is a pure, old school dungeon crawler (albeit, one of the best) that one can easily jump back into and have fun, even though most of the time if someone tries to create a modern square based crawler it just feels old and outdated (although I have enjoyed Undercroft on the iPhone).

I still play a lot of my old Mega Drive games. It also made me notice that 2D sprites seem to age better than old 3D models.

I'll never get sick of Ristar. =D

The OLDEST game I've ever played, and still actively play would have to be TES:Arena. I think it came out in '93? It was for MS-DOS; and it was easily the PINNACLE of early RPG games.

Pfft. You guys all play new games (well, except the Pong dude).

I still play text games, though I'm not sure how old they are compared to Pong. I just know that they taught me how to read, and I started playing them when I was around 3 or so.

PC:
Adventure (the cave spelunking game - XYZZY anyone?)
Zork 1-3
Omega/Nethack/Larn/Moria (lotsa Rogue equivalents)

Not quite so old, but still PC, and still loaded onto DOSBox at least once a year:
Betrayal at Krondor (still one of the f'ing best RPGs, IMNSHO)
The old Sierra 'Quest' Games

As for console games, once I figured out how to play NES/SNES on my PSP, i've been playing Secret of Nevermore and Terranigma a LOT. (gotta love a dog that changes species every time an arbitrary world change occurs.)

When did Halo CE come out? Was it 2000? Pretty sure it isn't an old game anyway.
