Old Habits Die Hard

Well ladies and gents of The Escapist, today was a day of bittersweet failure for me. Bitter because I relapsed on an old habit, but sweet because it felt oh so good. For the past few months I'd been clean of said habit, keeping myself busy with console games and copious amounts of hard liquor instead. But today, with no access to liquor because of the high drinking age in this country, and having beaten every game I currently own, I did it again.

For the first time since January, I logged on to World of Warcraft.

OK so that made things seem quite a bit more dramatic than they really are. I was never a WoW addict in any sense of the word, I gave it up because I got bored of it, not because it was taking over my life, and I didn't start because of some undying craving to play it again. I started because I got a random email from them about my hacked account finally being reimbursed the gold that was stolen from me.

In any case I probably won't be playing for long. Maybe go up a few more levels (Maybe even finally get to 50. I'm currently at 46 on my highest leveled character) but once I get my hands on Fable II this Tuesday I'll have something new to occupy my time.

Anyway, just thought I would announce my return to Azeroth on these fine forums and ask a slight question.

Have you ever quit playing a game for any reason, only to go back to it sometime later despite not really wanting to?

I quit James Bond Nightfire because it was dieing and out of date. Now, me and my friends join servers and play online like we used to.
It still has a community too.

I have an on again, off again addiction to City of Heroes. I can't help but play it into the ground when I pay for a month, so I usually go a few months without playing, then jumping back for a while.

The White Chamber; because I decided to review it.

Damn, that game is scary. Nevertheless, it's an excellent one.

I find myself getting addicted to songs rather than to much else.

At the moment it's The Dead Flag Blues by Godspeed! You Black Emperor.

That happens to me as well. I sometimes find myself listening to the same song on repeat for hours. It also happens with bands, where I listen to nothing but one band for sometimes a month or two at a time. The longest 'Band Binge' was with Blink 182 where I listened to nothing but them for about three months after they broke up.

I used to have constant band binges.. ranging from Pain Of Salvation to Meshuggah.

Welcome back to the darkside.

Wow is at an interesting time right now, new talents skills and terrain have been added latest patch as you all know and northrend exapansion = drool.

Its my latests semi addiction (only game i play since Sims 2 got boring (kinda repeatative), UT3 keeps crashing on the last arena...either that or i completed it, either way theres only multiplayers/skrmishes left...which get boring after a while aswell. I'd mention Guild Wars...but tbh WoW beats that hands down currently.

Spore was a flop, hardly what the hype made it out to be, galactic god my buttocks, cant even recharge my genesis wand.

C&C3, crysis, total war, hitman series, hellgate london same as UT3, completed and got boring afterwards.

But yeah...lots of interesting content hitting wow soon...very soon ^_^

That was a great game though, when the multiplayer, not so much single player.
