opened tonight as expected, and you know what? FUCK ORIGIN!!! NO paypal for the pre-order, no link to the pre-order ANYWHERE on their actual site, only buried through the ToR site, and SEVERELY limited amounts, and NO shipping to CANADA. And, ofc, Origin is the ONLY place listing the pre-order right now.

SO after getting up at 3am specifically expecting and wanting to pre-order the collector's edition, first I lose time trying to find the damn proper page. Then I notice no paypal, oops, off to my bank site to make sure I have enough $$ on the Credit Card. Then I go through everything for it just to be told, oops, sorry Canadian orders are Digital only. So now I try to get the digital bonus edition, and I get this

Unfortunately, based on our estimates you are NOT likely to receive your pre-order.

less then 20 mins into the damn thing opening, for a DIGITAL pre-order

there goes my early access, and I'll be at school all day tomorrow, so I just hope to god walmart or EB have a few left on my way home.

I looked at most of the retailer sites and they don't have either the standard or the collectors edition listed. The only one I found was Gamestop:

look at the prices, they are charging extra for pre-order T_T
Not sure if it is the case, but usually you get charged a nominal fee to preorder something (at least in the UK), then you pay the remaining balance when you collect it. If it's an actual extra charge, then yer it's bs.

The fee is usually to stop people preordering stuff for the sake of it, so you know they really do want to redeem their preorder.

I looked at the preorder prices - not really interested cos I think it's too much for what's likely to be a subscription-based game. Usually subscription stuff is cheaper for the box as you'll be paying later on... but £45 for *standard edition*? Stuff that. GAME's doing it for £40, other retailers I use don't seem to be doing preorders yet.

Doubt I'll preorder myself - with MMOs I tend to wait to see if they flop or not. The "shiny" editions don't really appeal to me either.

I'm confused as to how you could not receive your digital pre-order. Have they decided how many servers they're going to have available at release time already? And if too many people order the game then to hell with them?

That would be an interesting strategy.

Hope that the servers overload and explode.

It's an extra $5 / EUR 5 on top of the base price, if you scroll down on the preorder page, it's a separate line item in the order.

I think they are doing it backwards, as Steam, for instance, often offers a 10% discount for preorders. But hey, it's a brand new service, why not charge 10% extra to... draw in the rich crowd, I guess.

What exactly does "early access" mean? If you pre-order now can you start playing the beta this very moment? Or are they just leaving it as an undisclosed date on which you can start playing?
Preorders of standard edition start playing 3 days before the official release date. Deluxe/Collectors editions start 6 days early.

Can anyone confirm the release date of December 31st they have listed on Amazon? Seems kinda silly that they wouldn't release it before Christmas.
That is purely a guess on their part.

You know, I'm not quite certain where I saw that. As I recall, 3 days was listed as unconfirmed, but the week for collectors was "confirmed". Since neither the release date nor early start duration were so far listed on the official site, it still might change, but probably not by much.

I wasn't going to try this game until a free trial but seriously, lol at charging extra just to preorder it. I'll stick with steam where they charge me LESS to preorder games.

One thing you must remember, they must protect their assets, so this "$20.00 Preorder" means that you MUST spend $20 in order to Pre-Order. It is included in the price.
