After being turned on to TVTropes by a topic here, I found the I Am Not Making This Up section, which led me to the Animals subset.
It was there that I discovered the Haast's Eagle and the Therizinosaurus, and rediscovered the moa and the passenger pigeon.
It just makes me want to see those beautiful creatures in the flesh, and the fact that there aren't any more saddens me. If I could, I'd make a Jurassic Park of exticnt animals.
