HOLY SHIT YOU GUYS. NEW TF2 COMIC

Valve really outdid themselves. AND MASSIVE SPOILER WARNING HERE: READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Team Fortress Classic Pyro was a woman. Is the current pyro a woman as well?!

I want to hear your opinion guys. What do you think of it?

Wow, I wasn't expecting the comic to be so...dark. I realize violence and gore play a big role in TF2, but it was always tempered by the game's satirical nature and the fact that player characters respawn with no permanent damage. Here, though? There's very little levity to offset the story's rather disturbing developments. It felt more like I was reading a grimdark TF2 fanfic than an official Valve-endorsed storyline.

I dunno, TF2's lore has become so ridiculous and labrynthine over the years that I can't bring myself to regard it as canon anymore. I kind of prefer the early days, when the setting was deliberately vague outside of a clandestine 1960's power struggle between two mega-corporations that owned the world.

I thought it was the best one yet. And I'm not surprised they made TFC Pyro a woman. This way it can be said that "Pyro is a woman! But maybe not really..."

Honestly, I feel that the writing, pacing, and art have vastly improved since Valve started doing/commissioning these comics. I'd even go so far as to say that there are some panels in the latest comics I'd actually like to have framed up on my wall.

I'm anxious to see where they're going with the story. There are only two comics left in this series, so things will undoubtedly ramp up quickly.

I'm also curious if the conclusion will coincide with a big event update to the game. Not that I'd demand nor expect one, but it would be a nice way to wrap it all up.
