older fps

Since I'm assuming you've already played the blockbuster hits mentioned above, I'll go with Singularity. It won't blow your mind, but it's a solid, entertaining FPS campaign with good (but probably dead) multiplayer.

Our medium is in a sad state when people are asking for recommendations for "older" games, and then proceed to specify it must run on the PS3...

How about Realms of The Haunting [http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/realms_of_the_haunting] from 1996? It's only $5.99 on GOG, every PC in existence can run it, one of the best FPS games (and likely the best horror game) and who knows - maybe you'll gain some perspective in the process.

well i do have the money to get new games but i have been playing a online rpg "tibia" for a while now and i just want a cheap but fun game to get me back into my console since i rly never used it for games just movies

CoD 4: Modern Warfare, will be cheap. Maybe even MW2 will be cheap. Grab the Orange Box too if you can find it (game retailers in the UK don't carry it now unless its pre-owned and even then its near impossible to find). Not a FPS but Army of Two is enjoyable and cheap, maybe even Rainbow Six: Vegas. That's all I can think of for now.

Try the first Resistance. I think it was a lot more fun than it got credit for. It doesn't use a lot of the current FPS conventions. The original COD should be available for DL. Not Moder Warfare but the old WWII one, which is a great game and I think holds up for white knuckle action.

riddick escape from butcher bay is quality. It's a remake of an xbox fps with an added campaign to boot. it's fantastic.
