Seriously, we go through this same routine. Every. Single. Time.

Treyarch/Activision announces the next installment of Call of Duty and so it begins...

"Oh my God, this is gonna be so awesome! I can't wait! They're going to fix every problem!"

This has been said for World at War, Modern Warfare 2, Black Ops, and now Modern Warfare 3. And within a month, it is immediately followed by...

"Dude, this sucks! (Random SMG/AR) is SO overpowered, only noobs use it, man, CoD 4 was SO much better than this!"

Why am I the only one noticing this pattern here?
Because you are not even close to being the only one who notices this pattern. A lot of people have already noticed and made threads about it before you. Yes, it's annoying, but you're not exactly some lone crusader who is the only one to see the truth.

I can't wait for MW3. Gonna play the shit out of it.
see now this strikes me as a very honest statement. Every new Call of Duty people complain about people having high hopes for the next one then realizing its similar, etc... but then? They get it anyway. And play it, while complaining. If you have a problem with it, great, don't play it. But let the COD fans have hope, that this series that they actually enjoy will be at least better than the last one. I just love watch people complain about a game they seem to hate so much, and yet play, or better yet, don't play.

Completely agree with most on here. The majority of people I know all have the same "overrated understanding". But we all still buy it, and have fun shooting each other in the face. And that's all that really matters. It's still fun.

You aren't the only one. I feel no regret in saying the single player campaign in EVERY COD game is ok-semi good, and the multi player on EVERY COD is a pandering waste of time.

Yep. I love COD but it does make me really mad sometimes, it just comes as part of the territory.

I do think MW3 will be the last gasp for most people though - if it has massive game breaking flaws that don't get patched, then it'll finally drive many jaded fans away from the series for good.

I am actually yet to buy a CoD game. I would probably look into actually buying one if the story line was good because I like a good single player to supplement a good multiplayer which the CoD series seems to have besides the obvious balance issues. I have played MW, MW2 and BlOps because my lil brother buys them to play with his friends and I got MW for christmas one year.

Same here. Hell, I just own a Wii, though I will very likely get a 360 or PS3 on the cheap in the coming months. I grew up a nerd, surrounded by other nerds, so I'm never too far away from video games and Star Trek references.

I don't think I've ever said "Oh my God, this is gonna be so awesome! I can't wait!" for a COD game.

i thought the first three were ok.
then they ballsed it up a bit. then they made a good game. then they ballsed it up again. i never bought 4/5, got 6 about a year after it came out and got bored of it. i got BO and the only reason i still have it is the disk is cracked.

I really don't care ... Maybe I'll download it and play it some weekend, but I just don't care about the hype nor the fanboys.

^ This. Every time something new comes out people either A. Are super excited for it. B. Indifferent. Or C. Complain about the people that like it. It's all part of the cycle.

Everyone notices, only a few give shits.

Plus, how were they going to fix the problems of MW? MW was arguably the best game in the series.

I'll probably rent the game via Gamefly. I don't see it worthy of being bought.

CoD is fun with friends. This forum has been done a million times. We get it. CoD is over hyped and shitty. Yet storms are shitty too. Until you get a big group of friends who are all hyper and go out side and have fun doing the most random shit in it. That sums up CoD.
Group orgies in the rain are the most fun, amirite? Right? >.>

Oh, you're not the only one who see's the pattern, you're just one of those special few who chose to complain about it on the forums. Everyone else pretty much has an unspoken understanding that many triple A titles get this kind of rave review by people.
It goes even further than COD. Ever since I started dividing my time between two forums, I've noticed how so many people on Escapist fancy themselves as exclusive members of the world's intellectual minority, hence the abundance of "Am I the only one who" statements, in just about every video game/world politics/basic morality subject. Don't see how this is going to go away, so I guess we might as well hunker down and let it pass over our heads.

I'm pretty sure that MW3 was like this:
"Not another one!"

"Actually, It's looking good."

"OMG!!! GUNZZZ!!!"

"Yeah, it's not coming out for PS3 (This is just a stupid lie that has been said for MW2 and Black Ops)"

*Game comes out*

"SOOO COOL!!"

"STUPID NOOOOOBS"

My main point being the "It's not coming out for the PS3". Does anyone else see this happen?

Yeah those can be fun... but playing ball tag around you and your friends house at night with lightning lighting the way is seriously fun and has a satisfyingly scary element. I encourage this. (Yes it was a terrible storm and it was stupid but that's how to have fun)

I noticed the "pattern" when MW2 cmae out.
I didn't buy black Ops, but instead of skipping out completely on MW3, i think i'll rent it or get it when the price drops. Oh wait, that never happens to CoD games.
