A Hermit's Cave
I was reading a manga the other day, or rather, re-reading it and I happened upon a character that I quite enjoyed... however, she was cut out from the anime adaptation (most likely because she was just a minor character, even if she is important to the development and background of three of the main cast) and that left me rather disappointed. (Name(s) omitted to protect my innocence!)

So, it got me thinking to adaptations of books/comics/games etc. to another medium whereupon a much loved character was left out or whose characteristics were combined with another.

Just now I thought of Guns of Navarone, though some may find that a little too vague...

Others?

Oh, and inb4 Tom Bombadil.

Expanding on Jurassic Park, that scene in the book if which Dr Grant deduces why the number of dinosaurs has been increasing in front of all the scientists is so satisfying. ALAS! It's not in the movie.

Speaking of which, Hammond. The financier of Jurassic Park. In the movie, he's a kindly fellow, with lots of free time and money. but in the book? He's a full on douche.

Awww... :(

Well, I have another, or rather two others anyway. Those two are Meera and Jojen Reed from the Game of Thrones TV series. So far, Meera's role has been taken over by Osha, but Jojen's role hasn't been filled by anyone yet. I read somewhere though, that both those characters have been cast for Season 3, but how they'll manage to squeeze them in, is something I'm wondering how they'll do. The way they're introduced in the books is very natural and works very well, but it's too late for the TV series to do it that way now.

That's all I got, really. I hear that the Hunger Games movie made some changes to Katniss, because of the first person perspective used in the book and the third person perspective used in the movie, but I can't really comment on that, not having seen the movie yet.
