Also, can we mention Wing Commander 3? That game's video was awesome, and held up for a very long time.
I've gotta second that. The whole series of FMV Wing Commanders was actually pretty great (3, 4 and Prophecy). They go downhill a bit, unfortunately, but the gameplay is solid and integrates very well with some of the best FMV work yet made. Doesn't hurt that the cast includes a bunch of very talented people (Mark Hamill, Thomas F. Wilson [Biff Tannen in a damn charming turn as Luke Skywalker's competition-turned-best-friend], John Rhys-Davies [Gimli], and Malcolm McDowell [who spends most of his time just eating that Goddamn scenery]) and has a decent Top Gun in space plot that actually goes somewhere.

Man, Origin was pretty amazing back in the day.

Is anyone else reminded of the presence of QTEs in games? It's something that started with certain first-party adventure titles, and continues to this day with Tomb Raider, Uncharted, Castlevania, etc etc. Quantic Dream can't let its characters take a step without it requiring a complicated series of button presses, all to do the simplest animations, because EMOTIONS!

The closest I ever came to games using FMV was the animations in MK. Sure the character models were kinda shitty but they looked so real and not cartoony! I guess I just didn't get it, why spend the money for a peripheral on the other guy's console, that had a limited library of games to say the least? It was probably cool to watch, or show off to friends, but the gameplay was often a weak imitation of the puzzles in Myst.
