The whole segregation of where an Rpg is from is simply ridiculous it's like saying since 'The Witcher' is a polish game it should be classified as Prpg and how can one classify a 'western rpg' shouldn't it be a NArpg or Erpg? I mean I live in Canada and Japan and Russia are clearly to the west of me and west of them is Europe.

Now as to why I play them, Rpg's are fun they are filled with interesting characters, engaging Story-lines and side-quests i find myself reaching for an Rpg over a classic novel anyway of the week.

No one can ever convince me JRPGs have good storylines, but instead, they're carried by lovable characters.
I'd never have finished Tales of the Abyss if it wasn't for all the funny little things Jade adds to the game.
I've always found JRPGs usually had more memorable characters for the most part.
Although Bioware is pretty damn good at making characters.
Wrex is true bro.

There is nothing stopping Rockstar north from putting a turn based interface end on GTAIV if they wanted to for an experiment. I gave you an example of a turn based game with physics and you can only tell me that it's inadequate because it isn't the same as GTAIV. Fine, be like that.

If you can't personally enjoy games where you don't directly control a character then I don't have a problem with you admitting that but saying that turn based games are inferior as a conclusion doesn't fly with me.
Okay, turn-based game system isn't an inferior game type, which I never claimed btw...

I said that I didn't find "storyline" as an adequate reason to call a game one of the best, since the only basis some people have on defending FF, is the storyline, that's how this begun.

Still, turn based will never have as many possibilities as a FPS 3D game is able to, unless they implement an extremely detailed "V.A.T.S."(Fallout 3).

As I said, the main reason I prefer non-turn-based games is that it isn't really me doing it, I'm just commanding a persona.

From the sound of it, turn based games have such incredible story lines. If the game creators use most of their strength to focus on the story, it is likely it will lower the standards of game or graphics.

The dude that created Final Fantasy said himself that he wasn't qualified to make an action game, but he was good at telling at story.
