In most media forms there stories wherein there are those major plotpoints that centre on a character close to the protagonist that to all intents and purposes is about to die, and much of the subsequent story stems from the protagonist's reaction to said 'event'.
So, question: is it more emotionally powerful for the 'event' to be survival or death?

Did you blub/cry/bawl/shed manly tears more when Nagisa passed away or survived? Though granted, you get kinda thrown into it at ep22 for the latter so... eh... -_-
