I'll normally buy the first one because 1. Achievements 2. It's probably cheap and cheap games are always welcome.

You can never have too many games.

With such a recent influx of sequels I often prowl bargain bins and the pre-owned sections of game stores in order to find and play the original before the seuqel comes out (Or I borrow it from a friend). I've done this in the cases of fallout 1 and 2, half-life, Bioshock, Fable and Mass Effect just to name a few. Otherwise you can sometimes be confused as to what's going on.

I will either buy it if there time before the sequel comes out or just use some kind of over view to see what happened in the first one

You haven't seen my computer. Last time I counted, this thing had over 80 games on it. I still haven't gotten around to playing over a dozen of them. Same you Steam and your amazing game deals!

I'm not going out of my way to play TF:Classic if that's what you mean. Does your question include remakes like Resident Evil for the Gamecube?
