Sorry, I felt the "..." pause was needed before I address this issue.

I have a problem with one answer threads. Threads like "Do you think that homosexuality is natural or a choice?" These types of threads honestly only have one answer. If you say, "it's a choice" you will be immediately quoted by 20 different people saying how much of a douche you are.
Now, if a person were even to bring clear evidence to support their answer, chances are that person would still be called a douche.

Maybe it's just me, but haven't you noticed a few of the one answer threads popping up?

Also, does it make you a mean, rude or uneducated person to answer differently from the norm?
Yes indeed. It's also interesting that how most people who just insanely high post counts are the most guilty of this. Now I know a lot of people who have insanely high post counts and still post logical and coherent answers - like neonbob. On the other side you have people who have been here for less than 3 months have posts ranging almost to five numbers and if you look at their posts it's quantity and not quality.

One answer-threads are generally feature closed questions. They do not generally generate discussion. I dislike them anyway.

Oh, and if you answer differently from the norm, it just means you have a different opinion to other people. If people call you a douche based on that, it is hypocrisy.
I disagree with you. My reason being is, for example; if you were to deny that the Nazi group committed genocide and everyone else rightly blasted you for it, you would have a different opinion to the norm but you would also be a 'douche' for holding that opinion.

Original Post: I think people who are interested in inciting debate about topics need to be more careful about their choice of words, the same sort of point you've made I think.
