I've just come back from holiday to find out onemanga is closing down.

Is there a way to prevent this? Please somebody tell me there is!

No, as far as I am aware they bowed out graciously of their own will and are now trying to figure out what to do with the main site.

"Is there a way to prevent this?"

Seriously? Anyway, no. There's better sites with more content, and content that actually still works, instead of dead links everywhere anyway, like that site has/had.

Like what?

I promptly did research when I found this out and found another site that does 5 of the main weekly updated mangas that I have been reading so I have some more that I am still able to read.

Not a good idea to discuss that on this site, now that sites like OneManga are quite obviously illegal now.

It's not that hard to find other sites. Just use Google like everyone else. But, with the way things are going, the publishers will probably start going after those sites as well. I personally wouldn't, because from what I've heard starting next week all these sites are going to start removing all mangas until there's nothing left at the end of the month, possibly early August. So, in other words, it's kind of an exercise in futility.

When you think about it, it was inevitable. Doesn't matter if it happened today, 2 years ago, or 5 years from now, eventually the publishers were going to say "No more. Enough is enough." I just hope this leads to a better system of getting manga to people around the world. A faster system, instead of having to wait months. Hell, something like an iTunes-based system would work.

No (advertising), but my friend Google can help you out.
