1,000,000 million people just played the essential distillation of FPS stagnation. Bravo to you all.
This from someone with a Halo avatar.

*Slow clap*

OT: Doesn't really surprise. COD was never my cup of tea though.
Of course I have a Halo avatar, for the same reason that other people have Gordon Freeman or Commander Shepard avatars: we love FUCKING GOOD GAMES and the characters in said FUCKING GOOD GAMES.
Haha, oh my. I guess Halo is not the "distillation of FPS stagnation" then.

My bad?

Well there goes any faith I had in this generation. There's no reason for game companies to improve anymore if people are willing to jump onto any bandwagon that passes by. Darwin, you were completely WRONG!

No, it's not, thanks to Forge World (aka Garry's Mod Lite) and jetpacks. At least Bungie adds stuff to their games that's fresh and a blast of fun.

...

There's nothing wrong with liking Halo or COD really, but to say that one is "the distillation of FPS stagnation" and that the other isn't is pretty naive and hypocritical.

All FPS boil down to three things

1. Shoot people in the face
2. Shoot moar people in the face
3. Blow shit up

Its all about which type of FPS you like invincible super solider (Halo) or dainty little man who dies in two seconds (COD/Battlefield)

I like all of them btw

To be fair, we're so damn nice these days that the "weak" get a free pass. For every moron skateboarding off of a three story rooftop, there is an ambulance that will save his dumb ass... and then he'll have kids.

I can't feign surprise though, given Modern Warfare's popularity and considering how most people are oblivious as to anything beyond another "Call of Duty" title on that box.

Also, from experience, if one was not a fan of Halo and was also paying for Xbox live, one had damn well better hop on some multiplayer bandwagon, so what better than the new popular title that everyone else will be engaged in? Without a doubt, getting into a game in a timely manner is an important factor related to the size of the game's community. I never played MW2 on Live/PSN[footnote]It sounds horrible enough of an experience to not even warrant the attempt.[/footnote], but I truly enjoyed COD4: MW because I did not like Halo 3 at the time.
