I've noticed alot of games cater mostly towards male players, even for kids games most of the time there aren't many games where they have a lead female character that isn't ( I repeat) ISN'T either some eye candy for boys or where as much clothing to cover one-third of a person.
would you agree?

Have you also noticed the main characters are mainly white mid 30s types?
Now take a look at some of the devs behind those games, but be careful kids this revelation may blow your mind...

Simple fact is we all want to be the hero in our story and not blow someone elses horn, it's all about me, me me me...

Most writers [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MostWritersAreMale] and most gamers [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MostGamersAreMale] are male. There isn't really much to it.

Which means, that yes, we've noticed.

A fair point actually - it helps make games best sellers.

that may be true but that doesn't mean they can have some what of a variety for everyone but nowadays every new game coming out is trying to be the next big "Gears of war" or "Halo" nothing has much creativity anymore ;^; other then the guns have weird names

The creativity, I can sort of agree on. But the rest is a lie and you know it. Not all games are shooters. Not all games are the same. There is variety. But I'd agree we need more.

As far goes gender roles the key word(s) is "in history" its kind of a system that really needs to die out make some changes females can be the hero too( and don't dress like prostitutes) and such and heres the funny thing most gamers probably or not know if they were in such a situation for real they'd last a whole minute out there and you right we don't see much games where the character isn't a muscle dons trainee unless your cartoon based game ( sonic, klonana, sly cooper, etc which are me favorites I might add ) unless your an anime but thats a whole another can of ballpark >w>

How does the gender of the lead character affect who it is aimed at? Samus wears more then enough clothing but I would say its aimed at guys.
Alsomore guys play games then girls. Its better for business if you aim stuff towards guys.

look at it this way imagine a opposite where where most games you played a female main character and you were more so a sick kick or some or support character "all the time" sure you get one or two good games that give you the spot light but you still feel under appreciated to a extent and every time you play a fighting game I'm sure you wouldn't want every character to be some shirtless male model wearing nothing but a belt an condom , just perspective
