It was something i discussed with a fellow musician a few days ago, could the idea of a band, for fun work on the principle of sending each other layers of tracks and mixing it all together.

For example, i play a guitar part and then forward it to a drummer in Spain who then forwards it to an American bass player, to a vocalist in France and a rhythm guitarist in Korea...

Just so we don't get confused, no the band would not tour, just record for laughs.

Escapists i ask for your views

It'd be hard, but I suppose it'd be possible. I just wouldn't expect the music to be too good, though, since there isn't the whole connection between the band thing.

Just don't ask me for help...

That sounds like an interesting idea. I would be curious to see if such a thing could work,

I've thought of this. Figured someone probably thought of this too and did it already. Wouldnt be impossible.

Sounds inventive but would it really work?

For instance, the bass player may play something that the rhythem guitarist hates.

Could work. But you would have to keep sending it back and forth just to get it right.

While thats true i assume there woudl at least be a fundamental form of communication between the band members (msn/skype) so they could begin to get an idea of what the other person likes
